Position: Windows SysAdmin
Department/Division: IT
Reports to: Head of Infrastructure (Asia)
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
● Go above and beyond: Doing everything possible to ensure delighting customers, end users and stakeholders
● Continuous improvement: Helping the team turn the sprint retrospective meeting into an evolutionary experience and to improve performance by learning from mistakes
● Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information regarding cloud environmental requirements for upcoming sprints
● Assist the Cloud tribe in the migration of cloud platforms/technologies, to ensure the group get the best possible environment around support, agility, operations, and cost.
● Gain a deep application-level knowledge of the systems as well as contributing to their overall design to ensure all solutions are ‘cloud optimised’ and ‘cloud ready’
● Build engineering automation and productivity tools to streamline and scale applications in the production environment
● Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud systems, application development, deployment and operations
● Build from the ground up reliable infrastructure services in Cloud platforms to deliver highly scalable services
● Assist key strategic partners in implementing the migration of all primary and supporting systems into Cloud platforms
● Upgrade of the current environment to maximize auto-recovery and geographically
distributed redundancy
● Provide support and guidance to simplify architecture to expand use of Cloud Platforms to all group applications
● Improve system monitoring and alerting to improve incident time to resolution while decreasing false positives
● Improve systems logging and benchmarking in order to fine tune application infrastructure and gain better insight into system issues and performance
● Work with QA, delivery and application development teams to improve system performance through environment upgrades and improvements.
● Work to decrease hosting costs by using proactive and responsive auto-scaling
algorithms and changes to technology solutions
● Build the operational cloud environment for both production and non-production environments
● Update legacy systems to support the new development and technology initiatives
● Participate in 24/7 on-call support rotation
● Setup, management and deployment of the automated deployment toolset (Ansible)
Participation and Collaboration:
● Participate in weekly meetings with the IT team to discuss progress and issues to be resolved, and report progress on a weekly basis to the Head of IT Service Delivery
● Participate on IT project steering committees and be involved in the design phase of any new IT based development projects.
● Serve as a liaison and facilitator between all business units to assist in addressing and resolving issues
● Other duties as required.

● Relevant tertiary IT qualifications and certification or related discipline
● Any Cloud certification

● Previous experience in a 24×7 high-availability production environment
● Previous expertise in architecting an AWS environment
● Previous experience in automating the management of an AWS environment
● Experience with software based firewalls, load balancers and proxy servers
● Detection systems and network and server security hardening
● Experience in monitoring, metrics collection, and reporting using open source tools.
● Experience with automation platforms. E.g Chef, Puppet, Ansible, etc
● Prior experience in developing CloudFormation Scripts
● Hands on experience in AWS provisioning
● Experience in designing high availability applications on AWS across availability zones and availability regions
● Experience in designing applications on AWS taking advantage of disaster recovery design guidelines
● Experience in AWS Networking – Direct Connect/VPC, NACL’s, security groups
Desirable
● Experience in a fast paced, retail or hospitality environment is desirable.

● Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games
● Applicable knowledge of the technologies used by the team
● Knowledge of application deployment and data migration on AWS
● Good working knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python etc.
