In this role, you will have the following responsibilities:
Business Performance Management:
•Be responsible to analyse sales trends and business performance across the channels and provide solutions and support to the Retail Banking and Wealth Management Chief Operating Officer (RBWM COO), to ensure that all sales channels are operating at maximum efficiency and productivity to achieve the business and income goals.
•Ensure that the business performance of the entire business is on track with the anticipated margins including PBT is being reached; and to provide solutions and support to RBWM COO to anticipate potential problems and sound early warning signals if the business is facing risks in meeting plan.
•Drive a close relationship with Finance to create the link between MI and targeted action plans.
•Direct and promote a data-driven decision-making culture through the provision of accurate, timely and insightful information to all levels of management and individuals across RBWM.
•Build long-term relationships with all stakeholders and strategically influence and leverage key stakeholders to achieve business results.
•Drive the use of cross border best practices when designing and implementing strategy.
Annual/Rolling Operating plan development and monitoring:
•Co-ordination point between region and finance for Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and monthly rolling planning (ROP) and forecasting process.
•Work with Finance and Strategy & Planning teams on ROP and strategic planning initiatives.
•Medium Term Operating Plans support – work with stakeholders to determine key initiatives to achieve the desired target.
Cost Management:
•Provide oversight on costs, both direct and indirect impacting the business.
•Ensure appropriate review and where required challenge enabling optimal return on costs incurred.
•Establish a robust cost management discipline across the business.
Incentives/ Recognition management:
•Be accountable for the design and monitoring of the sales incentive plans and undertake regular review of the effectiveness of the plan.
•Where global incentive frameworks have been approved, the job holder will be responsible for providing guidance and support to the incentive management manager and working with HR in local implementation.
•Design and deploy recognition programmes to both motivate and retain top performing talent.
Network/ Footprint Planning:
•Provide support to RBWM COO and Channel Heads to optimize the physical (Branch and ATM) footprint.
•Generate regular internal MI and overlay with Bank’s strategy and external environmental changes to assess the ongoing effectiveness of the physical presence of the Bank.
•Coordinate with Corporate Real Estate (CRE) team and Regional teams to ensure effective deployment of the network plan.
Sales Quality:
•Provide oversight to the Sales Quality Assurance team ensuring that the required standards are kept including timely reporting.
•Where possible issues in sales conduct is indicated run thematic checks to validate the assumptions.
Governance and administrative support:
•Accountable to ensure effectiveness of the Run The Bank Meetings such as the RBWM ExCo, Business Performance Review meeting and cross functional engagement meetings and perform the role of the meeting secretary.
•Ensure appropriate management of financials (Accounting, GL management and allocations etc.)
•Monitor timely renewal and ensure the compliance to policy on third party vendor management.
•Be the coordination point for CRE related activities for RBWM .
•Provide support for adhoc project management.
•Cultivate an environment that is aligned with HSBC Values – Dependable, Open to different ideas and cultures, Connected to customers, communities, regulators and each other

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:
•Minimum of ten years proven analytical, planning and project management experience within a business or project management function.
•Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or related field.
•Sound understanding of Financials including cost management practices.
•Strong communications, lateral thinking, strategic planning, analytical, decision-making, interpersonal and leadership skills.
•Proven track record in leading and managing change, particularly given the organization’s continually evolving nature
•Strong business acumen and ability to continually make trade-off decisions.
•Ability to seek out and improve on best practice and capability.
•Sound understanding of the HSBC business, network, customer segments, products offered and competitive market.
•Ability to work effectively with stakeholders through the management verticals including cross business/functions and Regional office.
