Technical Manager

Based at our operations near Ho Chi Minh City, this key technical role will provide hands on technical support to our paper and board manufacturing facilities in the manufacture of our products including cups, bags and napkins.
We are seeking someone who enjoys the challenge of a technical role in identifying and resolving issues through to successful outcomes for our customers. This role also provides the opportunities to coach others to develop technical skills and knowledge.
You ideally will have:
• Practical experience working at the plant level in paper and/or board packaging, so you have sound knowledge of manufacturing process, machine capability and associated product design requirements.
• Strong ability to analyse problems and develop solutions that are practically sound and commercially viable
• The ability to communicate your ideas and influence decisions that are made in regard to manufacturing processes. to coach and share knowledge in order to develop
• The ability to communicate with external parties such as suppliers

The technical manager role activities include;
• Coordinate and conduct production trials, analyse and review outcomes and identify gaps and initiate corrective actions
• Supervise the introduction of new products and product changes to manufacturing including ensuring the availability of all inputs and requirements.
• Understand and troubleshoot machine capability, raw material specifications and liaise with relevant parties as required
• Following engineering department approval of tooling, arrange and order tooling from suppliers
• Undertake initiatives to improve product cost and quality
• Liaise and collaborate with Engineering, Product Design and Marketing, Manufacturing, procurement and external Suppliers
• Assist the manufacturing team to develop standard operating procedures, provide training and technical support to ensure optimal outcomes.

- Degree in mechanical Engineering qualified with over 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment, involved in process improvements or engineering, packaging industry is a must.
- Good knowledge of printing (preferably flexographic), paper packaging, TQC, lean manufacturing and quality management would be advantageous.
- Strong analytical capacity
- Good at English communication.
- Has autonomy and sets his/her own standards of excellence
- Challenges the status, thinks creatively and look for alternative solutions
