Teaching Assistant - Music (School Year 19-20)

1. Planning and Preparation
a. Collaborate with the teacher to demonstrate knowledge of the SSIS Mission, Core Values, and SuperUnits.
b. Demonstrate knowledge of students,,their families, learning styles, and academic performance levels.
c. Collaborate with the teacher to understand and communicate instructional outcomes to students.
d. Demonstrate knowledge of resources within the school and Vietnam.
e. Collaborate with the teacher to design and deliver instruction for various learning experiences.
f. Collaborate with the teacher to develop, administer, and score student assessments.

2. Classroom Environment
a. Contribute to a positive classroom and school environment. Assist children with transitions between classes and with practical problem solving. Contribute to a culture of academic excellence.
b. Support all classroom procedures to ensure smooth management of the classroom.
c. Manage student behavior: supervise and help students learn respectful behavior throughout the school campus.
d. Enhance the learning environment: prepare lesson supplies/materials/equipment, display learning in rooms and hallways, locate and/or purchase local materials, organize and retrieve storeroom supplies.

3. Instruction
a. Support positive relationships with students and colleagues.
b. Use questioning and discussion techniques to promote critical thinking.
c. Collaborate with the special area teacher to engage students in differentiated activities.
d. Be flexible and responsive in the learning environment.

4. Professional Responsibilities
a. Reflect on the teaching and learning process; make suggestions for improvement.
b. Support the maintenance of accurate records, including attendance, assessment, and communication.
c. Support communication with families, including translation when necessary.
d. Participate in the professional community, connect with all members of the school community.
e. Continue to develop professionally. Attend SSIS professional development opportunities.
f. Demonstrate professional behavior, including dress, speech, and interactions.

1.Knowledge:
● BA degree required
● Knowledge of Music is preferred

2.Skill:
● Strong written, spoken and oral English skills
● Basic understanding of the Google Suite applications

3.Experience:
● Experience teaching and working with children preferred

4.Abilities:
● The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking and writing in Vietnamese and English.
● Ability to take initiative and to collaborate well with others.
