The successful applicants will be working with and for the Director of R&D for the Jacon Group designing, developing and testing cutting edge systems for the global mining industry.
This job requires applicants with a passion for science, automation and robotics with a primary study and interest in computer Science. An understanding of physics and the various sensor mechanisms for data acquisition is desirable. A currency and working knowledge of Artificial Intelligence is beneficial.
Applicants must have a skillset and be able to demonstrate an existing proficiency in at least two programming languages and a working understanding of the software development process. The successful applicants must have completed and have a working understanding of software development. A Batchelor’s degree or more in IT is preferred
Development languages you will be using within the job are requirement specific but will include:
Python
C++
Other languages will be learned and used as required. Applicants should be comfortable in Windows and Linux based systems but be prepared to adapt to new languages and software environments as the projects require. You will be given training in various industrial computing and communications systems.
Members of the R&D and automation team will be required to work flexibly in diverse and sometimes extreme environments. Field robotics can be tough. Development environments will range from office desktop software development to factory floor assembly and field testing. Field testing is potentially remote requiring travel and long hours. Applicants should therefore be fit and unencumbered to travel as required. Field deployments would not be expected within the first 12 months of commencement.
The Automation and R&D team will liaise with process, mechanical and electrical engineers and thus a general understanding of these fields and terminology is desirable. You must be a good communicator able to listen, assess and research information and summarize and pass it on to others. You must understand and apply the need for good documentation and project write ups.
Applications should have strong competency in written English and be conversational in spoken English. The interviews will be conducted in Vietnamese and English.
