Purpose of the position
The Country Air Freight Systems & Processes Manager (SPM) will improve EBIT conversion through:
• Enabling unit cost reduction through reducing cycle times, centralizing processes to reap economies of scale, and reducing personnel and other operational expenditures,
• Driving process standardization and quality
• Maintaining relevant skills in operations through training
• Developing the Business Unit Systems & Processes Super User Team

Key Tasks
Management & Leadership
• Lead the S&P team in the country by managing, coaching, and supporting BU S&P Super Users
• Support CHoAF and Regional S&P in identifying and developing talents in the Country

Process Re-Engineering
Focus on how we add value for customers; eliminate waste and non-value adding activities. Balance productivity and control over profitability.
• Seek opportunities to improve productivity across the AF operational functions (incl. supervisor level)
• Ensure operational processes and organizational setup support strong profitability focus
• Work with BUs to identify requirements and opportunities
• Work with Regional S&P and other Countries to advise, align, and prioritize
• Drive implementation activities into BUs
• Promote and support a culture and discipline of Continuous Improvement
• Coach and support BU S&P Super Users as required

Quality & Standardization
Establish and enforce standards that drive quality, eliminate rework, and enable the industrialization of our processes.
• Support regional and corporate S&P in defining and improving process standards that enable quality, efficiency, and economies of scale as well as compliance with global and local regulations relevant for Air Freight operations.
• Work with BUHoAF and BU S&P Super Users to drive implementation of process standards
• Establish the methods and tools to monitor adherence to standards and process quality within the country
• Address / escalate sustained deficiencies with CHoAF, and Regional S&P
• Guide and support BU S&P Super Users as required

Tools and Enablement
Provide operations with the right tools and enable staff and supervisors to work effectively and efficiently.
• Working closely with BU S&P Super Users identify functional improvement opportunities
• Challenge end-users and BU S&P Super Users to clearly articulate underlying business requirements across applicable business scenarios and evaluate business impact
• Work with CHoAF and Regional S&P to evaluate and prioritize opportunities
• Produce high quality business specifications
• Drive deployment of tools at country level, coach and support BU S&P Super Users as required

Process Automation & Integration
Use smart and innovative IT solutions to automate manual processes; drive integration with business partners (internal and external) to eliminate redundant processing and drive data quality at the source.
• Identify local process automation and business partner integration opportunities and evaluate business impact
• Work with CHoAF and Regional S&P to evaluate and prioritize opportunities
• Drive local implementation, support implementation at Regional and Corporate level as required
• Drive deployment of tools at country level, coach and support BU S&P Super Users as required

Organizational Restructuring
Re-think how we organize ourselves to deliver our services - from team to regional and global level. Drive economies of scale and economies of skills, sourcing activities at the right level and the right cost.
• Closely work with CHoAF and Regional S&P to identify & shape opportunities for leveraging economies of scale and skill, wage arbitrage as well as for improving role clarity
• Drive implementation of global, regional, and local initiatives, specifically with a view to process centralization on, near, and off-shore to reduce average and marginal unit cost
• Coach and support BU S&P Super Users as required

Organizational Learning
Establish a culture of best-practice sharing, on-going learning, and constructively challenging the status quo. Leverage and promote Continuous Improvement mindset and supporting methods. Provide the methods and materials to deliver consistent and current training to operations.
• Establish methods and tools for regularly assessing skill gaps and actions to address same within Air Freight Operations
• Carry out Training Needs Analysis (TNA) and communicate Country training requirements to Region
• Actively develop relevant skills and capabilities in the Country S&P team
• Actively contribute to knowledge and best practice sharing across the global S&P Team
• Contribute to creation and maintenance of Air/Ocean Freight training material
• Work closely with CHoAF and HR to develop local training solutions
• Working jointly with the regional S&P training team provide standard trainings for AF staff in the Country and the Region as agreed with Regional S&P
• Address specific skill gaps in Country AF Operations as needed

• Support Panalpina meets its objectives and targets regarding quality, health, safety and environment as documented in IMS and follow all requirements as set out in the QHSE policy.
• It is the responsibility of all staff to ensure that their day to day activities embrace sustainability/Health and safety therefore reducing the impact upon the environment, supporting the communities we work in and reducing incidents in the workplace.

Decision Making Authority
• Binding policies, processes/procedures, guidelines and standards for Air Freight within the Country/Cluster
• Judge local process change/improvement vs. escalation path for process/system gap
• Decide on training requirements and set training priorities

Educational background / Work experience
• 3 years of work experience in Air Freight industry
• Preferred Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Economics/Logistics but not a must
• or Air freight forwarding apprenticeship

Language Skills
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Local country language

Computer Literacy
• Good knowledge of Microsoft® Office Software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and others)
• Good knowledge of SAP®
• Profound knowledge of Panalpina Systems (FOS, AirWarder, SCP, GBD, MyPanalpina, etc.)
