THE ROLE
The Student Activities Officer is responsible for providing administrative and logistic support to Student Life department activities in relation to the Student Council, Student Clubs, Leadership Programs, and International Student Support. This includes support for planning and executing student-related activities events, maintaining accurate records, and generating reports. This position seeks opportunities to best engage the wider student population through events and activities, whilst also ensuring risk mitigation measures are in place to maximise student safety. The position may also be required to support events organised by Student Life.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Proactively contribute to the planning phase of student events and activities to increase overall student engagement in extracurricular activities
Occasionally assist in the delivery of other RMIT Student Life activities and events, from large-scale events to weekly activity sessions.
Assist in the coordination, administration and governance of student-related events and activities.
Assist risk management and health and safety compliance regarding all student-related events
Develop and recommend smooth operational processes for Student Council, Student Life, and Clubs
Support the Student Leadership & Development Coordinator in liaising with relevant internal and external stakeholders to contribute to the effective operation of Student Council across both campuses.
Propose initiatives for professional development for student club executives and members

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
A relevant Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in event management, recreation, or sport.
At least one year of experience in a similar position; events management or administration officer.
Ability to manage time effectively and ensure follow up on project based initiatives.
Excellent communication skills for liaising with both internal and external stakeholders.
Experience in a university environment is desirable although not essential
Familiarity and awareness of current issues relating to transition of students from school to university, student engagement, and the first year experience.
Well-developed interpersonal skills, including negotiation, liaison, and cross cultural communication.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in using computer software such as word processors, spreadsheets, presentation software, database systems, and web content management systems.
Strong skills in planning, organising, analysis and problem solving.
Ability to work alone as part of a team.
Commitment to continuous improvement and customer service.

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS
If English is not your native language then you will be required to demonstrate a minimum English language proficiency standard at a BULATS Intermediate level (BULATS score 60), equivalent to IELTS (General) 5.5. RMIT Vietnam will require you to complete a BULATS test to assess your level of English before an offer of employment can be made.
