Sourcing Specialist

Job Summary:
• Monitor sourcing workflow and coordinate vendor site visits, strategically source and follow program guidelines to meet established goals for client orders set by TJX merchandise and sourcing management.
• Conducts market research and coordinates visits at trade fairs and exhibitions for market sector.
• Oversee and visit manufacturers, factories and overseas agents as required.
• Work closely with U.S., Canadian or European global sourcing teams on buying calendars.
• Merchandise categories and production schedules. Ensure inspection programs and company compliance guidelines are followed with regard to sourcing.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Plan and control the activities of designated sourcing unit on the basis of commercial and development strategies decided by management and TJX sourcing and merchandise departments. May assign tasks to Merchandise Assistants.
• Supervise the trips of staff with foreign buyers and participate in vendor site visits as required.
• Assist with best price negotiations as required with buying team.
• Remain in constant contact with external management to obtain information on strategies and development projects, sales data on Vietnam merchandise and market conditions that impact sourcing decisions.
• Evaluate the Vietnam market to recommend the best source for a particular product or category of products. Investigate market opportunities, write proposals to establish cost and benefit of attending trade shows and exhibitions. Coordinate external buyer attendance at shows if required.
• Research new market opportunities in based on market trends.
• Once orders are placed, insures order standards are met and handle difficult situations with manufacturers. Spot check vendor warehouses when a quality or production concern arises.
• Visit factories to create opportunities and resolve problems.
• Ensures that potential new vendors and factories can meet TJX’s standards and requirements for Social Compliance and Cargo Security Programs.

• Decisions involve evaluation of market trends and sourcing vendors that can meet order requirements.
• Make recommendations on whether to select certain vendors or manufacturers.
• Partner with various TJX teams in decision making on processes and procedures in merchandising, sourcing and logistics areas.

Job Knowledge
• College degree or equivalent work experience. Minimum of 3-5 years of merchandise and strategic sourcing experience desired. Ability to provide direction to staff and organize workflow.
• Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills required. Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization. Requires strong analytical and negotiation skills.

• Reports to Sourcing Manager / Director of Sourcing (indirect to VP International Logistics and Trade Compliance, TJX)
