Software Dev

Job Overview:
- Investigates and fixes bugs, builds defined features, writes and executes tests.
- Communicates progress, identifies blocking issues.
- Designs and implements embedded software in a multi-processor, multi-tasking, real-time telecommunications product family.
- Works in a team environment implementing software using vendor specific scripting languages, device driver software, board support packages, application level embedded software which interfaces with device drivers and SNMP MIB handlers.
- Works with HW primes in defining HW/SW interfaces, address maps, interrupt structures and performance expectations along with network management primes to define and implement MIB extensions and CLI commands.
- Owns the development and rollout for an entire product, or large project
- Sets measurable goals, and meets them.
- Reviews code changes.
- Helps mentor new hires.
- Sets measurable goals, and meets them.
- Develops and ensures adherence to standards and processes.
- Writes technical specifications for major projects.
- Becomes a cheerleader for the assigned engineering team.

Required Experience:
- 6+ years proven working experience in software development role.
- 1+ years in leadership role.
Requirements:
- BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
- Proven track record in hands-on development and troubleshooting on embedded targets
- Outstanding programming experience in C or C++
- Proven experience in embedded systems design with preemptive, multitasking real-time operating systems
- Ability to manage software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools
- Excellent knowledge of OS coding techniques, IP protocols, interfaces and hardware subsystems
- Excellent ability to read schematics and data sheets for components
- Excellent documentation and writing skills
Desired product related experience:
• IP/Data:
- Strong working knowledge of voice/data communication protocols and standards (VoIP, PPP, DHCP, RADIUS, Routing, NAT, Bridging, VLANs)
- Strong working knowledge of LAN/WLAN/WAN communications technologies
- Strong working knowledge of management applications and protocols (SNMP, TR-069, OMCI)
- Experience in Packet based switching applications, TCP/IP and SONET based wide area networks is an asset.
- Specific VxWorks or Embedded Linux knowledge is valuable.
- High-speed internet, voice over IP, IPTV and business services over a wide variety of access subscriber interfaces.
- Work with leading edge technology in hardware interface and packet processing at line rate.
- Familiarity with layer 1 protocols such as Gigabit Ethernet, xDSL, and GPON
- Experience in Packet based switching applications, from layer 2 to layer 4 applications based on TCP/IP and UDP.
- Specific VxWorks or Embedded Linux knowledge is valuable.
- Extensive knowledge of embedded real-time software development
- Embedded operating systems ( Linux, VXWorks)
- Experience with C, C++
- Embedded Java or Python are a plus
- Programming experience with IP networking
- Programming experience in distributed computer systems
- Broadband access network experience a plus
- Familiarity with Broadcom Switches/Cavium Processors or Network Processors, PowerPC and ARM

• CPE/ONT:
- Basic knowledge of electronics
- Solid knowledge of networking, TCP/IP, and Broadband technologies
- Knowledge of layer 1 protocols such as Gigabit Ethernet, xDSL, and GPON
- Experience with optical fibre, IP network test equipment, and OLTs
- Knowledge of voice communication protocols and standards (SIP, MGCP, H.248 and VoIP router functions)
- Knowledge of WiFi (802.11b/g/n/ac)
- Knowledge of and prior experience with multiple softswitch platforms.
- Work in Perl/ Python, TCL, or other scripting language
- Strong working knowledge of data communication protocols and standards (IPv4/IPv6, PPP, DHCP, RADIUS, Routing, NAT, Bridging, VLANs)
- Strong working knowledge of LAN/WLAN/WAN communications technologies (Ethernet, OMCI, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, DSL)
- Strong working knowledge of management applications and protocols (SNMP, TR-069, XML, HTTP, Javascript)
- Experience developing SW for Linux-based microprocessor systems.
- Experience developing embedded SW for Broadcom datacomm CPE devices.
- Experience with Software Source Control systems and development tools (ClearCase, JIRA, cscope)
- Experience developing embedded real-time ‘C language Linux software Applications running on MIPS/ARM microprocessors in a broad family of CPE products.
• ZMS:
- Experience in the following:
- Strong knowledge of Oracle ADF is required.
- Graphical User Interface design
- Java EE
- Eclipse IDE
- JDeveloper IDE
- WebLogic Server
- Oracle Database including SQL and Stored Procedures
- Oracle BI Publisher
- Proficiency with database design and information models
- SQL/Oracle background is a strong asset
- REST, XML/SOAP, SNMP, Virtualization, FCAPS as related to Network Management Systems, EMS/NMS software for large networks (tier 1 & 2 network carriers)
- Experience with information modeling
- Knowledge of FCAPS (Fault, Configuration, Accounting, Performance, Security) functionality
- Broadband access network experience a plus
• WEB:
Experience in the following:
- Experience writing semantic relevant HTML
- Strong understanding of DHTML
- Strong understanding of unobtrusive and progressive enhancement JS design patterns
- Experience implementing AJAX interactions with back-end services
- Experience manipulating the browser DOM tree based on user interactions
- Knowledge of XML and JSON
- Able to write standards-compliant code
- Strong understanding of cross-browser implementation differences and limitations
- Extensive experience with object-oriented programming
- Prefer proven experience developing transactional, eCommerce, hosted web applications
- Experience with performance tuning and analysis tools.
- Strong communication and teamwork required.
- Familiar with jQuery javascript library
