Senior Production Engineer ( Garments)

Primary Function:
Assure Target supply chain ethically delivers safe and quality owned brand products to Target’s Omni-channel Guests by proactively planning, managing and executing Target’s compliance and quality assurance activities throughout the entire product life cycle processes.
• Product Knowledge
o Master proper product knowledge of both garment and footwear; understand the guest expectation through product standards, specification, approved samples and testing requirement/protocols to support field operations
o Identify risky/critical operations and better solutions for enhanced quality, efficiency and productivity
• Technical Knowledge
o Understand main production flow and manufacturing process of related category and able to conduct detail level process mapping
o Understand machine and production equipment main function, capability and capacity; can calculate and determine process capability index; can identify key bottlenecks in production
o Understand process management - able to determine the critical process to quality and its control plan to prevent or mitigate potential risks/issues in product quality and guest experience using FMEA
• Quality Management
o Understand quality management concept & quality control, assurance and planning tools to better support field operations
o Comprehensively assess factory’s quality management system; review and validate CAPA/PTP and the effectiveness and sustainability
• Factory Performance Assessment & Oversight
o Ability to review data and conduct statistical analysis of factory quality and production performance from TQE ( technical, quality and engineering) perspective
o Comprehensively apply product technical knowledge to evaluate production setup, business process, running performance and bottlenecks; able to validate factory production planning, scheduling and capacity
• Decision Making & Critical Thinking
o Master practical thought process to support timely and effective decision making and apply critical thinking tools
o Drive calibration on decision-making based on Guest Expectations on product quality
• Problem Solving and Prevention
o Master basic problem solving and prevention tools and skills to solve and prevent technical and quality problems and drive continual improvement with business partners
• Program Management/Production Readiness/Product Inspection
o Ensure timely, thorough and accurate execution of program management
o Based on product category needs, manage quality assurance requirements within BAH and TPR meetings; ensure vendor/factory capability, capacity and the adherence to Target and US regulatory requirements
o Validate production and inspection planning requirements to ensure timely inspection as well as the ability to meet testing requirements on time

• Product Testing
o Understand product testing protocols and requirements; ensure Target products are good & healthy, safe to use, guest friendly and durable & functional through product lifecycle
o Ensure strict adherence to Multi-Stage Testing requirements
• Issue Investigation/Resolution
o Follow through and validate vendor/factory partners’ accountability to corrective and sustainable action plans based on factory assessment and/or inspection’s findings; ensure PTP and/or factory internal testing failures are identified and/or change notifications that affect Rules, Bans, Standards and Regulations (RBSR's)
o Validate effectiveness of root cause analysis and corrective action; ensure a long term preventive action is identified and implemented
• Coaching / Consulting
o Provide specialized consultation to prioritized vendors / factories to elevate their performance based on Target business needs and CFT’s inputs
• Adapt to change and adhere to Target's business strategies and goals through effective implementation of defined quality assurance processes, standards and measures
• Escalate critical issues concerning ethics, quality and production to leaders; inform CFT teams and get support for issue resolution
• Act as Target branding team member being result oriented, self-motivated, dedicated, enthusiastic and energetic
• Committed to Target Values and ethical business conduct; make ethics a mantra for Target and supply chain

• Bachelor degree in engineering and/or technical disciplines equivalent and/or retail compliance, quality management, product or manufacturing industry equivalent
• Minimum 5 - 7 years’ experience in garment industry
• Solid background in quality and/or technical and/or engineering perspective
• Expert in quality assurance processes, procedures and tools
• In depth knowledge of US regulatory and safety requirements
• Excellent leadership/interpersonal skills
• Ability to perceive and differentiate between colors
• Able to travel frequently
• Manufacturing auditing experience
• Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
• Collaborative focus and ability to work successfully across functional areas
• Works autonomously to manage all day-to-day operations with little or no supervision from the manager
• Language: fluent in English and local language
• Computer skill: familiar with Microsoft Windows and Office software applications
• Certified Quality Engineer or Quality Auditor preferred
• Six Sigma or Lean certified preferred
