Senior IT Engineer

*POSITION PURPOSE

The Senior IT Engineer’s role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the OnPremise, cloud-based and hybrid information systems that support core organizational functions. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing all networked software and associated operating systems. The Senior IT Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments. This role requires additional knowledge and experience around technologies and techniques for automating provision and management of a hybrid infrastructure in a distributed environment. This role is also responsible for architecting and designing infrastructure, network and systems solutions throughout the organization.

• Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
• Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems.
• Provide orientation and training to other IT staff and/or end- users, as necessary.

Product and System Development
• Work with executive team members, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve business systems issues.
• Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure system related products and services.
• Conduct research on software and systems products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts
• Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
• Prioritizing resources as per agreed schedules to deliver in business needs.

Business Acumen
• Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.

• University diploma in the field of IT or related field or;
• A minimum 5+ years related experience.
• Certifications in networking, infrastructure, ITIL, operating system and/or information security are preferred, but not mandatory.
• Proven experience in delivering the design, development and implementation of infrastructure,
network and/or other IT related solution.
• Proven experience with systems planning, security principles, and general software management best practice.
• Strong network management experience across network layers.
• Multi-tier architectures experience: load balancers, caching, network layers, application servers
• Must have proven experience with Microsoft Azure or AWS
