Department: Timberland Footwear
Immediate Supervisor: General Commercialization & Quality Manager
Working Location: Vietnam
Key Purpose of the Job:
The Senior Commercialization Engineer:
- will manage and execute the development and Engineering process, ensuring all developments meet key milestones and critical key dates whilst meeting or exceeding quality challenges.
- will provide construction, pattern, molds and engineering guidance, direction, and recommendations to PD/Engineering teams in both Asia and US, based on own background and experience with footwear.
- will use their knowledge of commercialization, manufacturing processes and schedules to influence decisions both internally and with external partners that positively affect local decisions and product quality.
- will be solving problems and driving timely resolutions that are beneficial to both the company and its partners.
- will have strong communication skill internally and externally, maintain the engineering and commercialization process that are efficient and effective.
Key Area of Responsibility:
- generate and maintain project schedules and meet associated key milestones.
- maintain and uphold Timberland fit and technical standard
- review/manage Fit trial and Wear Test trial outcomes with required internal and external team, provide suggestions and recommendations for improvements in collaboration with factory partners, and implement appropriate changes for production.
- support all PD/commercialization documentation and ensure accuracy in regards to Tracking reports, Commercialization and Development schedules, and Tooling development progress
- develops and maintain strong working relationships with all Vendors and internal departments and stakeholders.
- work with Vendors to Identify advantages in strategic supplier and second tier relationships
- actively resolve product development and technical issues that arise collaborating with internal and offshore teams to find suitable, cost effective and timely solutions to prevent quality and lead-time impact.
- actively review each new development prior to commercialization to anticipate production issues.
- follow up until first production, ensure product is being executed to meet quality expectation
- create an inspiring and collaborative working relationship and environment between the Timberland Global offices.
- International and Domestic travel to various factory and office locations

- Minimum Relevant Experience: 8 year (s)
- Required Professional Qualification: minimum 8 years in the footwear sourcing operation, solid with product development and engineering processes
- Language Proficiency (Please delete where inappropriate):

* Oral Skills:
1. English: Excellent
2. Mandarin: An definite advantage

• Excellent interpersonal and English communication skills.
• Sound knowledge of footwear development, commercialization processes, quality, manufacturing and materials
• Strong technical background and knowledgeable in all footwear constructions, engineering, mold making.
• Comfortable to work within matrix management in a multicultural/multinational organization
• Branded footwear experience.
• Manage relationships effectively with partner factories.
• Ability to evaluate and manage risk.
• Strategically minded individual
• Effective negotiation skills.
• Analytical and process driven.
• Have the ability to remain calm and focused whilst operating in a pressured environment.
• Balanced decision maker, flexible and open minded
• Understand and respect the culture of the country and balance interpersonal style where necessary.
• The candidate needs to have a minimum of 8 years’ footwear sourcing/operations experience, ideally working with a high volume premium branded footwear operation.
