Research Assistant (Jd-1219-043)

JOB SUMMARY

The Research Assistant will be part of the Zoonoses group. The successful applicant will mainly work in laboratory and field activities as well as data analysis for publications. The project is part of the Zoonoses and Emerging Livestock System (ZELS) funding program. The up-coming study will be focusing on investigating roles of biofilm formation and reactive oxygen species (ROS) neutralization system in antimicrobials resistancet (AMR) of zoonoticsis bacteria. The position is mainly based at OUCRU, HCMC but required travel to Myanmar and some provinces in Vietnam.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities included, but are not limited to, the following:
• Working with sample processing and data collection in the laboratory strictly following the approved SOPs
• Performing related lab and field activities
• Taking part in developing of molecular and microbiology SOPs
• Analyzing molecular and microbiological data
• Preparing data slide for presentation
• Writing manuscript for publication
• Reviewing literature to collect useful information for building AMR, biofilm formation or ROS related gene databases
• Working in a team with other researchers to assure project’s deadline

LOCATION
This post is based in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam at OUCRU HCMC. Travel to Yangon, Myanmar or Tien Giang province will be required. Further details can be given at interview.

This is a one-year contracted position, includes of 2 months’ probation.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

• BSc or higher degree in molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, biotechnology, pharmacy, medicine or other life science related fields
• Having research experience (at the minimum of the BSc thesis) and being a proactive learner aiming for scientific research career
• Excellent oral and writing communication skills
• Fluently in English (equivalent to IELTS 6.0 or higher); be excellent in speaking and writing skills
• Self-motivated, well organized and autonomy
• Having interpersonal skills and teamwork mentality but can work independently at certain level
• Energetic and creative; open to new approaches, ideas and having interest in scientific research career.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

• MSc in related disciplinaries,
• Being authors in international publications
• Knowledgable in molecular biology, microbiology and biochemistry
• Having experiences in DNA cloning and microbiological assays or clinical sample processing
• Having Eexperiences in study design development and data analysis for scientific publications or presentations
