Renewable Energy Specialist

We are currently looking for a dynamic and capable individual with a background in renewable energy with experience in infrastructure design, construction and transaction advisory service sectors in Vietnam. The candidates shall possess an out-going personality with drive and ambition to effectively promote the firm’s global energy business offerings.

The successful candidate will be based in our Ho Chi Minh City office to represent our Energy Business and develop local opportunities. He/she will work closely with our Infrastructure and Advisory teams to provide technical and commercial support to the team which will include feasibility studies, preliminary & detailed design, technical advisory, due diligence services and operational reviews, with a wide remit to pursue opportunities across the region for a wide portfolio of projects.
• To identify opportunities and undertake sales and marketing related activities, e.g. organising and providing quotations and marketing material as per requirements
• To demonstrate in-depth know-how during client interaction (verbal and written) to ensure smooth flow of technical and project information.
• To deliver presentations to clients and lead opportunity and pursuit management.
• To plan, manage and control all project-related activities, including project management, quality control, timely delivery and cost control.
• To ensure resource are managed and deployed in order to meet client and project needs, whilst meeting the needs of the business.
• To lead various teams in delivering design, due diligence reports and overall project delivery.
• To be responsible for the outputs from the engineering and design team including calculations, design drawings, specification and reports through Arup Quality Assurance procedures and systems
• To drive digitalisation and innovation throughout the design process
• To lead in the adoption and adherence to company health, safety and environment best practice

The Arup East Asia energy business is centred in Hong Kong with regional support in various countries where there is significant potential to expand. We are in need of a dedicated renewable energy specialist in Vietnam with capabilities in a variety of energy markets, including wind and solar. With significant funding allocated to the region for investment in renewables, the candidate should ideally have hands-on experience in working in a technical capacity alongside owners, financial advisors and investors. The candidate will be expected to partner with our Infrastructure and Transaction Advisory businesses to create and help achieve financial close of projects through owners’ engineer, technical due diligence and lender’s advisory service roles. Candidates should ideally possess the following:

• Relevant engineering degree holder with Grade I PM licence in Vietnam.
• Over 5 years of post-qualification experience in the development and execution of energy projects, with a strong technical background
• Professional membership of a recognised institution in the field of engineering is desirable but not essential
• A solid track record for the design and procurement of renewable energy infrastructure works and in particular wind and solar projects
• Relevant and recent Technical Due Diligence and /or project delivery experience carried out in the offshore wind, onshore wind and solar sectors would be of particular interest
• Proven experience in client relationship management and business development with proven connections with local owners, regional lenders, utilities, IPPs & investment funds
• Experience of delivering technical M&A and pre-lend due diligence studies for financial investors and/or banks, and a robust understanding of how technical risks can impact the commercial drivers of a deal would be an advantage
• Strong interpersonal skills to lead and manage a team of technical specialists
• Fluency in both written and spoken English
