*** Job Summary – (Role Summary)
- Manager and lead the hotels Recreation operations (Beach area, Gym, Pool Area, Tennis Courts, Watersports & activities) of the hotel to ensure the achievement of high standard quality of physical setup and product, guest services, employee satisfaction, guest entertainment and achievement of departmental revenue and profit goals.
- Adhere to local regulations concerning HACCP, health, life & safety, or other compliance requirements, as well as brand standards and local policies and procedures.

*** Essential Duties and Responsibilities – (Key Activities of the role)
- Manage under the direction of the Director of Food & Beverage the Recreation employees, facilities, sales and costs, to ensure maximum departmental profit is achieved without compromising the guest experience
- Develop a sound understanding of financial results and be able to explain P&L of recreation department under the supervision of the Director
- Controls and analyses, on an on-going basis, in order to optimize the following:
o Quality levels of product and service
o Guest satisfaction
o Merchandising and marketing
o Operating costs
o Sanitation and cleanliness (hygiene)
o Pool area, gym, tennis courts, beach area and watersports equipment Maintenance
- Establishes and maintains effective employee relations
- Assist in coordinating pricing and preparation of gym & pool membership, water sports pricing by taking into consideration such factors as:
o Local requirements
o Market needs
o Competition
o Trends
o Potential costs
o Availability of products or equipment
o Merchandising and promotions.
- As the leader of the recreation department, essentially fulfil all job responsibilities of a Recreation Manager and ensure a very close relationship and communication with recreation team, with an update of the operation given daily to the Director of Food & Beverage, maintained by close supervision of the daily operations of the recreation department.
- Ensure that the Pool, Water Sports, Beach area are set up strictly according to the opening and closing checklists or operating SOPs and that this is spot checked throughout the day to ensure the highest quality look and customer experience at all times
- Assist in implementing and revising as needed the daily checklist for all recreation areas(pool, gym, watersports hut, beach, tennis court). Ensures proper follow-up to attain maximum quality and efficiency
- Gym must be setup and maintained daily in accordance to the daily checklist and this must be spot checked throughout the day to ensure supervisor or captain has been checking. Records must be kept for a minimum of 3 months.
- Ensure Gym is maintained and serviced as per preventive maintenance contract. All equipment should be in good order at all items and Director informed if any equipment is broken. Recreation manager should ensure 3rd party training quarterly for gym
- Gym and Pool Membership enrollment. As Recreation Manager, the following is required but not limited to,
o Recreation team is fully trained on membership pricing, terms & conditions and enrolment process.
o Recreation team are trained to look for external guests with close communication of security following hotel policy
o Recreation Manager ensure their own and team knowledge of members, updates communicated.
o Recreation Manager meets enrolment target as set by DOFB either from new members or renewal
- Recreation element of the job, the following is required but not limited to,
o Actively seek ways to improve guest experience, offering new, exciting & engaging activities for guests around beach/pool
o Ensure the recreation team are motivated, empowered and trained on how to give fun and activity based experiences
o Recreation team is trained on the day’s activities and invite and encourage guests to get involved in a playful way.
o Work on activities plan, month by month introducing fun/cool/unique activities relevant for each season and guest profile
- Watersports element of the job, the following is required but not limited to,
o Actively seek ways to improve guest experience, offering new watersports and finding ways to introduce to guests
o Ensure the budget for watersports is met, find ways to increase sales either with new products or up selling
o Ensure the recreation team are trained on how to use all watersports equipment’s including the importance of safety
o Ensure all equipment is inventoried and keep in good working order for guest use. Recommend replacement as needed
- Other key duties as Recreation Manager, the following is required but not limited to,
o Gym lockers must be kept in good order and proper control process in place
o Towel inventory must be done quarterly and plan to replace under approval of Director
o Full responsibility to ensure team are trained on swimming, lifesaving, first aid, Jet ski with support of HR/LD
o Actively look for entertainment, ie yoga class, kick boxing, aerobics either to be complimentary or paid service for guests
o Look for way to partnership with 3rd parties for services such as parasailing, fishing trip, scuba diving ect
o Look for rainy weather activities such as, Making Lantern class, Kiting and Conical Hat class, table soccer, pool table ect
o Be responsible to ensure health and safety, and ensure guest injuries are treated or taken further if need and recorded with incident report circulated to all AHOD and HOD and Front Office as it happens.
- Daily and weekly Recreation meetings relating to, but not limited to, the following:
o Overall Recreation financial results and profitability (P&L)
o Operations results and problems (Daily Outlet brief, monthly meet)
o Changes in procedures (Daily Outlet brief, monthly meet)
o New management policies (Daily Outlet brief, monthly meet)
o Quality improvement (LQA Action Plan Meeting)
o Productivity improvement (Daily Outlet brief, monthly meet)
o Recreation Department Meeting (Every 1st and 3rd week of month with minutes given to DOFB)
- Attends all other meetings as required by the administrative calendar
- Keeps aware of trends, systems, practices and equipment in recreation preparation and service in the hotel, recreation field through trade literature and actual visits
- Interacts with individuals outside the hotel including, but not limited to, clients, suppliers, government officials, competitors and other members of the local community, gym and pool members.
- Develop and approve duty roster for recreation department with support of Recreation Supervisor. Ensure sufficient coverage in line with business needs, insure that days off, AL, CL are planned out and cleared within set timeframe as per hotel policy.
- Ensure high level of service in around beach, gym and pool, with a hands-on approach in peak times
- Be out and about and always around and approachable in beach and pool areas to assist guests and support recreation team
- Involve in the preparation and management of the Department’s budget
- Ensure effective training plans are in place and approved by DOFB before the start of each month, spot check training is being carried out in an effective way according to training plans and with attendance records, offer assistance where needed.
- Be a good communicator and ensure leaders are able to openly raise issues, discuss and share feedback, guidance and suggested course of action as needed
- Ensure that guest issues that occur in Recreation are handled promptly, ensuring the guest is converted to happy while still in the hotel. Issues with proposed or actual corrective action and follow up should be raised to DOFB, shared amongst Recreation team and recorded in Recreation logbook and Front Office Duty Log and to be treated as a learning experience.
- As required by the hotel, all HOD must partake in the Manager on Duty program as per separate HR Policy. Use iAuditor
- Shift time may be set to either work the day, afternoon or night as per the actual business needs and directed by the DOFB
- Enforce colleague discipline, coach and counsel, as necessary. Participate with management in all salary & manning reviews.
- Perform any other duties which may be assigned by the management from time to time

1. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Required Skills –
o Demonstrated ability to interact with customers, employees and third parties that reflects highly on the hotel, the brand and the Company.
o Valid health/food handler card as required by local government agency.

- Qualifications –
o Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Hotel Management, Sports, or related field in accordance of Recreation Manager.
o CPR, first aid, lifeguard, swimming, personal trainer, yoga or related field certification or skills would be desired
- Experience –
o 3 years related experience, including supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
o Knowledge of MS office software, good understanding of Micros, MC, HR scheduling system and major operating systems
