R&D Production Engineer

ABB’s Power Grid division delivers products, systems, services and software solutions. The products mainly include high voltage products, transformers, grid system and grid automation. The major customers are power value chain serving utility, industry, transportation and infrastructure. The business connects, protects and automates critical business processes – including power and energy distribution – to improve the reliability and efficiency of its customers’ activities. In addition, the division develops intelligent building control systems for home and building automation to improve comfort, energy efficiency and security.

You will be working in a global team of engineers to support the introduction and launching of new products as well as maintaining the existing product data such as CAD drawings and Part specifications. Reporting to the Global Product Support Manager, you will collaborate with multiple departments and functions all over the world to continuously improve the performance and quality of our products.

** Description
• Managing and performing changes to existing drawings and instructions in collaboration with Global Product Support team.
• In coordination with quality department, ensuring that parts from suppliers meet the specifications and requirements.
• Requesting design changes based on feedback or suggestions from production, suppliers and quality department.
• Performing technical simulations and calculations based on the requirements from R&D department.
• Creating 3D models and 2D drawings in Creo (Pro/Engineer) as well as writing and reviewing work instructions.
• Ensuring that all related departments have the latest version of documents and drawings.
• Maintaining and continuously improving the quality of products and processes.
• Supporting and coordinating with Supply chain department to approve suppliers for serial production.

** Requirements
Your background:
• University degree, preferably in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in 3D modeling and 2D drawing, preferably using Creo and Windchill.
• Manufacturing, preferably heavy industry manufacturing such as metal forming and part assembly.
• Solid technical skills, reading and understanding drawings and specifications.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Very strong English skills
• Strong intercultural & interpersonal skills, able to collaborate within a global team.
