R&D Design Engineer

• Apply engineering knowledge and experience to the production of new designs and modifications to existing designs of water heater and conditioning products in order to meet the inter-company demand for new products, improvements to existing products, quality enhancements and cost reductions;
• Work in collaboration with all other parts of the organisation in order to implement these new and changed products;
• Preparation and maintenance of Design Control Documentation, including:
o Drawings
o Bill of Materials and ERP establishment for new or modified product
o Failure Mode Effects Analysis, FMEA
o Design for Manufacture Effects Analysis, DFMEA
o Manage the CI-PCR Product Change Request register.
• Analysing, problem solving of 4M Continuous Improvement programs related to product design.
• Participate in ‘Cost Down’ projects.
• Develop product specifications to meet specific market needs as defined by the relevant marketplace.
• Manage product development projects, including
o Developing project plans;
o Ensuring milestones are achieved;
o Ensuring compliance with product and market specification;
o Supporting the approvals process for certification compliance of new product;

• Ability to communicate, speak and write English.
• 3-5 years minimum experience in the design of appliances or related manufacturing, mechanical equipment assembly.
• Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering Qualification is an advantage.
• Experience in 2D, 3D CAD design, Inverter.
• Problem solving and understanding of “Cause and Effect”
• Strong planning, organizing and interpersonal skills.
• An ability to manage and complete complex product design projects.
• An ability to work on multiple projects within tight timeframes.
• A strong ability to relate to all levels from shop floor to senior management.
• Trained and experienced in using and understanding statistical measures to reduce process variations within a manufacturing environment.
• Well-developed computer skills (specifically Microsoft Office)
