Quality Engineer

The Product Quality Engineer supports the workshop in aspects of quality assurance/control and is responsible for the quality planning and conformance of Product Quality to Customer and Engineering requirements. This role reports directly to the Service Center Manager.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
• Facilitate and audit product qualification process for compliance and product conformity
• Plan for product quality verification at appropriate process stages, ensuring Critical-to-Quality (CtQ) characteristics are achieved
• Ensure integrity of measurement systems (inc. GR&R) for product verification
• Facilitate Management of Change (MOC) for product full/partial qualification
• Train quality control inspectors on proper use of measuring and testing equipment and visual inspection for product verification
• Independent reviewer for Cell operators/inspectors OJT competency
• Review product non-conformances through Perfection Review (PR), NCR and SAP Q-Note
• Drive internal Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and effective Corrective and Preventive actions
• Conduct assigned process and product audits
• Facilitate Quality Improvement Projects (QIP) to meet quarterly savings target
• Drive initiatives to increase product/process yield and reduce Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) – Scrap, rework, warranty costs
• Support cell in implementation and adherence of Quality Management Systems requirements
• Raise quality awareness, conduct quality briefs, monitor and exercise StopWork for quality issues
• Review and approve incoming and final repair reports, as needed

Requirements
• Engineering Degree preferably in Mechanical Engineering
• 3 years operational, quality and engineering experience in related industry preferred
• Strong communications, interpersonal and influencing skills
• Gas Turbine, Rotor or Aeroderivatives component repairs experience will be an added advantage

• Good report writing skills and experience in facilitating audits
• Meticulous and data driven in reviewing and making dispositions
• Good understanding of measurement systems and metrology
