Quality Control Welding Engineer

• Develop welding techniques, including but not limited to procedures, processes, handbook as required.
• Get all the required qualification approved by the Classification Societies and/or Clients.
• Ensure knowledge of production specifications, properties and characteristics of metals and metal alloys, and sound engineering principles are in place for the development and maintenance of procedures
• Prepare technical reports after conducting research, development and preventive maintenance investigations.
• Prepare WPS, PQR, welder list, welder cards and certificate.
• Manage welder qualification database, welder list.
• Prepare Continuous Improvement Plan for welding materials.
• Provide direction and guidance to the local operation management board, project management teams, site personnels, and subcontractors.
• Develop and provide Quality training as requested.
• Give support to the Quality Supervisor in regards to establishing the quality handbooks.
• Perform experimental welding to evaluate new equipment, techniques and materials.
• Direct and coordinate with the personnels in performing inspections to ensure the conformance with the project’s specification, codes and requirements.
• Study and advise on technical specifications, drawings and procedures in relations to welding part.
• Conduct daily site-visit, inspection and control quality of the products.
• Carry out the inspection of incoming material and apply testing if required.
• Report non-conformance to Quality supervisor and issue non-conformance Report if necessary.
• Prepare Project Quality Plan, Inspection & Testing Plan, Non-destructive Test Plan, etc. if required.
• Liaise with internal and external parties to inspect and ensure the welding quality to be in accordance with the standards & requirements.
• Prepare request for testing service samples carried out by the third parties; monitor the third parties’ activities and review their reports.
• Assist other sections of the Quality department such as: hull, machinery and piping if required.

• Minimum 05-year working experience in the field of Quality assurance/ Quality control in manufacturing.
• Strong strategic and conceptual skills with ability to execute and follow through.
• Ability to drive continuous improvement of the processes, policies, standards.
• Experience conducting risk assessments, audits, and accident investigation.
• Fluent in English and Vietnamese (spoken and written).
• Able to work with Microsoft Office as other industry standard computer programs.
• Experience working with Subcontractors.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Candidates with Shipbuilding experience are preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Welding or Engineering.
• Welding inspector certificate CSWIP 3.1.
• NDT inspector certificates.
• ISO 9001 certificate.
