Quality Control Technician

The Quality Control Technician is an individual with extensive knowledge of quality control & quality assurance programs and methodologies. This individual must be well-versed in training procedures that enhance the retention of the trainees as well as ensuring that the appropriate procedures are followed. He or She is responsible for direct examination of products to ensure that quality standards and procedures are met and they align with customer specifications. Requiring a high level of attention to detail, the Quality Control Technician is responsible for strictly adhering to the organization's quality assurance policies, and identifying defects and / or production errors in order to prevent these materials from entering the supply chain. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities:
• Report to CEO
• Assist in the formation of a technical training program that feeds into the training matrix and fulfills all requirements for Assurance and Quality.
• Inspect production material as required for defects as trained.
• Remove defective items from production, documenting and designating reason for removal.
• Report defects to the appropriate department head to locate the root cause of the problem, identify solutions and implement corrective actions
• Provide feedback to Management and Team Leaders to prevent errors going forward.
• Mentor staff to encourage quality.
• Able to delegate many tasks while ensuring that they are completed to the highest level of quality needed.
• Perform internal QA audits that are compliant with corporate policies, practices, and procedures.
• Support new product development and continuous improvement by integrating quality control tools (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, etc.) into processes.
• Comply with Company QA programs for monitoring supplier quality, including audits, controls, and other qualifiers.
• Promote and advocate quality achievement and performance improvement across the organization.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with local, national, and international standards and legislation.
• Create and maintain QA control documentation.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the CEO

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering
• Minimum 3 years of direct work experience with QA systems, regulations, guidelines, and associated standards.
• Direct knowledge of QA methodologies.
• Practical experience with risk management, product testing, capability studies, and control plans.
• Experience in cabinet industry is an asset.
• Good command of the English language. Fluent in spoken and written English
• Training and knowledge of Six Sigma techniques and Lean Manufacturing are desirable.
• Highly motivated and self-directed capable of multi-tasking, and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Extremely detail-oriented and analytical thinker.
• Able to interface directly with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to create and review technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures, and design documents.
• Able to develop, review, and maintain metrics and quality audits.
• Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
• High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity suite.
• Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
