Project Manager

I – Job summary
The Project Manager (PM) is responsible to plan and oversee a wide variety of construction projects from beginning to end. The PM will assist in hiring contractors and working with engineers and architects as needed, and keeping track of an inventory of equipment and materials ensuring that the projects is implemented in line with the school’s development and expanding strategy and approved budget.

II – Essential duties and responsibilities
• Oversee construction projects from beginning to end; Prepare reports regarding job status to the school and local authorities as needed, conduct site checks to monitor progress and quality standards and timely report periodically.
• Acts as the point of contact between the school and local authorities relevant to the assigned projects under the guidance for Associate HoS.
• Keep all stakeholders aware of the progress on projects and prepare progress reports regularly, handle any environmental or local community issues that may come up during the project
• Conduct risks analysis, report and propose solutions to school, ensure safety to all student and staff. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes;
• Prepare plan construction operations and propose to Associate HoS, adjust when needed before implementation; Propose the necessary equipment, materials, and manpower needed to the Associate HOS; Ensure all deadlines are met.
• Oversee all the contracts with contactors, vendors, suppliers, consultants, and negotiates these contracts in conjunction with the Associate Head of School; work with the relevant division heads to oversee contract preparation and implementation of the construction projects.
• Manage the project budget and estimate costs, monthly report to Associate HoS
• Ensure supplies and equipment are ordered and delivered according to schedule Keep track of inventory, tools and equipment, provide monthly report to Associate HOS and Business Office
• Works closely with the school Finance Manager/Facility Manager for matters relevant to the assigned construction projects to ensure the deliveries of projects.
• Performs any reasonable additional responsibilities as may be from time to time requested by AHOS/HOS.

*** Knowledge, Education and Experience:
• BSc/BA degree in Architecture, Building Science, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or other related field
• At least 5 years’ experience working as Project Manager for construction
• Extensive previous work experience managing budgets for construction projects
• Excellent knowledge of construction materials and equipment
• Previous work experience in construction management or another similar role
• Understanding of construction management processes
• Familiar with construction and project management software programs
• Excellent knowledge of relevant rules and regulations as well as quality standards and human resources
• Conflict resolution and conflict management experience

*** Skills:
• Have strong experience with MS Excel, Access and Word
• Proficient with spreadsheet software and project management software
• Good command of English
• Excellent written and communication skills
• The ability to work to tight deadlines, and the ability to consolidate data for management reporting.
• Strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills required.
