New Business - Underwriting (NBU) Deputy Manager/ Manager

Role Purpose: This position is responsible for supervising activities of assigned NBU team to comply with Underwriting philosophy and Underwriting guidelines; delivering fair risk assessment based on sound and profitable underwriting.

Key Accountabilities
• Manage assigned NBU team to:
1. Check application documents, key-in the proposals into systems, prepare requirement/contract/payment, etc. to clients
2. Ensure the smoothly execution in accordance with the company’s policies to support all business channels effectively
3. Supervise in documentations, updating underwriting query and conditional acceptance, handling the NB queries from Intermediary via communication channels such as email, hotline within the service turnaround standard
• Build/review/ update NBU’s process/procedures/guideline
• Conduct training to end-users on the new process/procedure/guideline to ensure effective performance of NBU team
• Underwriting life/accidental/CI and hospital risks of individual and group business under authority limits and based on sound and profitable decisions in accordance with company’s principle and guidelines
• Monitor quality and productivity of the team to make sure risk assessment and classification correctly as underwriting guidelines and cost efficiency through case review and propose for authority limit revision; participate in resolving underwriting relating complaints
• Contribute towards underwriter development strategic and annual review planning under the Underwriting Development Program, deploy strategy and various action plans including training courses, education programs (to staffs, agents, etc.), workshops to ensure their work performance effectively and develop the underwriting team stronger day by day
• Co-operate with reinsurer(s) to handle ceding and facultative underwriting cases as well as participate training courses/workshops of reinsurer(s)
• Effectively build and maintain relationship with other related sections (Management, Claims, Customer service, Distribution, Actuary, etc.) as well as outsiders such as Government Agencies and stakeholders (if any) to smoothly solve all NBU related issues
• Control quality of NBU team including underwriting scope and new business transactions to support Sales Team effectively and make profitable underwriting
• Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT), prepare test scripts and follow up with IT for error reported; co-ordinate with IT in system applications related NBU’s issues to improve the productivity
• Other duties as assigned by line manager

Education: Bachelor’s Degree (with education background in medical/underwriting is a plus)

Other required Degree, Professional Qualifications and Certifications: LOMA 280, 290, 386, ALU

Technical/ Professional/ Specific Competency Requirements:
• Good at negotiation, problem solving, cooperation and organization skills
• Strong in analysis & making decision skills
• Proactive, able to work under tight deadline and high pressure
• Able to do multi-tasks
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Relevant Working Experience:
• At least 5 years of underwriting experience in life insurance.
• At least 2 years of experience in Administrative supervisor roles in life insurance.
Required Languages: Fluent Vietnamese & English
