Position Overview :
Learning Support Teaching Assistant assists Middle School /High School Learning Support Teachers in implementing and supporting learning experiences that advance the intellectual, emotional, and social development of students within a safe and healthy learning environment.
Responsibilities :
Support: Provide support to Middle School /High School Learning Support teachers as requested
Use appropriate strategies to support students’ learning
Assist in instructing students in a variety of designated settings
Assist with tracking and supporting students as needed during instructional and non-instructional times
Take initiatives in carrying out tasks or seeking information
Ensure punctual attendance and time keeping
Substitution
Class cover during teacher’s absence for short periods of time
Interaction with students
Maintain good teaching-learning rapport with students
Model and collaborate to implement good behaviours
Understand learners’ profiles and act accordingly
Class management:
Proactively manage student discipline in alignment with classroom agreement
Manage small groups and 1:1 activities with students under teacher supervision
Resources Management:
Maintain inventory and stock control of all equipment and resources in collaboration with teachers
Keep track of Budget items- local orders and overseas orders
Filing of resources and student records
Creating and managing of teaching resources
Collaborate with teacher to provide teaching/learning fields and other areas
Commitment to develop UNIS community:
Contribute to the enrichment of student life at UNIS, for example in sports, ASAs student clubs and/or UNIS community support after school support structures for students such as Math lab
Actively voluntary involvement in UNIS community services programmes is encouraged
Contribution to the UNIS professional development
Seek feedback, reflect and act upon information received to develop professionally
Attend UNIS planned training activities
Learn from others and share knowledge with others
Other responsibilities as required by the Supervisor

Key Competencies :
Education / qualification
University Degree and Teaching Certificate
Experience
Experience in an educational setting, preferably in an international learning environment where English is the primary communication language
Cross-cultural exposure and understanding
Technical knowledge
Advanced English language skills
Strong computer skills – familiarity with UNIS IT Competencies a strong advantage
Understanding of Inclusion and learning support services
Other core competencies
Organizational skill
Planning skill
Ability to support and maintain an effective learning environment
Ability to communicate effectively and positively with students, faculty, parents and other constituents of the school community
Ability to collaborate with team members within agreed protocols to focus on student learning and cross-curricular links
Ability to develop respectful relations among children and adults, and between adults within a climate of trust that promotes peaceful solutions to problems
Special requirement:
Understanding the impact of different neuro-diversity and challenges on student learning
A willingness to learn and understand issues relating to learning and inclusion
