FUNCTIONAL REPORTS TO: Senior Director Material Operations Footwear
LOCATION: Vietnam
Summary
The Material Manager - Footwear Vietnam is a fast-paced, highly interactive position where you will partner closely with the footwear material operations team in the HQ USA offices and China/HK offices. In this role, you are the main conduit to footwear material development and sourcing in Vietnam, ensuring material supplier management, material development and material procurement are in sync with our global objectives.
This role is responsible for building and supporting the UA operational infrastructure and world class footwear material supply chain. As Material Manager – Footwear Vietnam you will help build material operations and material supply chain in the Asia region.
Your responsibilities will include selecting and developing with best in class material supply partners and creating/evolving communication channels between Under Armour and and our material and product supply partners. You are insuring proper implementation of our Centric PLM material and supplier data and management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Collaborate with the material operations team in the development of future footwear materials and processes, new applications and evolving material related innovation.
• Responsible for material supplier on-boarding, scorecards, quality assurance, material consolidation and cost negotiation in the Vietnam region.
• Participate in quarterly business reviews with suppliers to better influence UA Asia sourcing and materials strategy.
• Meet with HQ material operations and material development teams, facilitate the distribution of seasonal material briefs to appropriate material supply partners.
• Key source of material support for HQ development and design teams travel to Vietnam, insuring our teams continue following material process and best practice when in Asia
• Collaborate with UA Asia sourcing team, material suppliers and factories to ensure all new materials are properly allocated and tested to meet end use, costing, logistic, and lead time requirements.
• Communicate core and seasonal material libraries (toolkits) and global library objectives to material supply partners and UA Asia region development, engineering and commercialization teams.
• Communicate material quality requirements by material type to material supply partners and UA Asia region development, engineering and commercialization teams.
• Input and maintain supply partner and material information in the Centric PLM material data library and work closely with development, supply partners and factories to ensure data integrity for style material specification and all other critical product documentation.
• Partner with quality to understand, define and evolve physical property testing methods and requirements.
• Drive implementation of material supply chain initiatives, including lean and sustainability.
• Travel to various industry events to gain insight into new developments to keep the UA team informed on the latest innovations in the market
Additional Tasks
• Manage data for footwear operations to ensure on-time footwear samples delivery.
• Prioritize work based on calendars and seasonal product development.
• Manage global material libraries in the Vietnam Asia region.
• Summarize regional meetings and communicate action items.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners.
• Assist with other tasks as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree and experience with material management, material sourcing, textiles, or supply Chain management
• Regional language capabilities
• Experience in textile and synthetic leather, leather, foams and plastics manufacturing, material development, or similar fields with an emphasis on material testing, sourcing, merchandising
• Experience working with Illustrator, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Keynote, etc.
• Knowledge of PLM systems.
