Local Design Support Engineer

SUMMARY
The Local Design Support Engineer will assist in performing activities related to finalizing the remedial approach and selection of the preferred treatment of technology(ies) for dioxin remediation. Under direct supervision, this position is responsible to assist in efforts to provide the detailed engineering design necessary to implement the approved remedial approach(es) and performs technical activities throughout project implementation.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the Local Lead Engineer and other technical staff in engineering design associated with groundwater, soil, and air/vapor remediation including evaluating data, performing calculations, conducting research, preparing design drawings, and writing technical specifications, contract documents, and design reports. Provide field support for environmental services project to include field data collection and documentation for environmental site assessments and remediation.
- Preparation of technical correspondence, project proposals, technical reports, work plans, and project specifications including cost estimates and budgets.
- Data compilation, reduction, interpretation, evaluation/comparison to environmental regulatory standards
- Interpretation and implementation of environmental regulations.
- Prepare engineering related calculations, design drawings, specifications, and visual aids.
- Use well-developed strategic and critical thinking abilities in data analysis, interpretation, and application of remediation technologies and regulatory criteria.
- Coordinate with other personnel as appropriate and track/report project activities to ensure completion according to established schedules and budgets.
- Assist with the evaluation and development of cost effective and innovative solutions for complex site contamination issues.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable environmental regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor of Science degree in civil or environmental engineering, or equivalent based on local requirements, with emphasis in water resources, geology or environmental science.
- Professionally registered in Vietnam.
- Minimum ten (10) years of continuous experience in engineering field.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication skills in both English and Vietnamese (oral and written).
- Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.

PREFERRED SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with remediation projects.
- Experience with USAID-funded projects.
