Lifeguard

Position Overview

UNIS Hanoi is looking for a Lifeguard to be responsible for safety in and around the UNIS swimming pool. The position reports to the Aquatics Academy Manager and Director of Co-curricular Activities and works in shifts for 32 hours a week. There will be the opportunity to teach as part of the Aquatics Academy .The position starts on August 1, 2019.



Responsibilities:


-Monitors activities in swimming areas to prevent accidents and provide assistance to swimmers, cautions patrons regarding unsafe areas
-Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.
-Provides first responder emergency care and treatment according their training as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
-Conducts tests and record results for temperature/ quality of the pool water and report to Aquatic Coordinator and Aquatics Academy Manager
-Ensures changing areas between classes are checked, and collects and records lost property
-Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean, safe and orderly facility
-Assists lessons as required by teacher and supervise students in the pool at all times. When called upon, assist with curricular and/or co-curricular activities
-Ensures members have a current Energize membership card and sign in before swimming. Report monthly member usage to Aquatics Academy Manager and Activities Director
-Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.
-Attends In-house training programs and actively seek out PD opportunities
-Ensures lifeguarding certifications (International and/or Vietnam certifications) are current and maintained
-Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Aquatics Academy Manager and/or Aquatic Coordinator
-Remains alert and focused on the patrons at all times - phones and tablets to be used only during break times
-There is opportunity to teach as part of the Aquatics Academy so teaching experience would be preferable

Required education and experience:

-Undergraduate degree in Sports/ Physical Education
-First Aid qualification (current)
-Lifeguard qualification (current)
-At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role
-Teaching experience would be preferable
-Above-average proficiency in written and spoken English
-Knowledge of CPR, First Aid, AED and emergency medical procedures. Current certification preferred
-Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
-Aptitude and application of skills and techniques relevant to the position
-Proficiency in MS Office and database management programs, knowledge of web tools
