Librarian

The role & key responsibilities

- Provide front line services including loans, service desk administrative tasks, shelving and supervise the library spaces to ensure silent study and safety.
- Assist learning & teaching to help students to develop effective skills.
- Assist nominated customer groups in order to establish good working relationships, promote the Library’s services, understand the needs of the students and staff of RMIT Vietnam.
- Assist the research initiatives of the nominated customer groups.
- Provide expert reference support, including taking rostered shifts at evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
- Undertake other administrative library duties as required.
- Act in the role of Liaison Librarian as directed.

Key selection criteria

- Relevant degree and/or postgraduate qualification and relevant experience and training sufficient to undertake the duties required.
- Demonstrated and extensive Library experience or customer service in liaising in an academic environment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative work teams, locally and internationally and also to work independently.
- Demonstrated knowledge of trends and best practice in library customer service in higher education.
- English proficiency requirements: If English is not your native language then you will be required to demonstrate a minimum English language proficiency standard at a BULATS Intermediate level (BULATS score 60), equivalent to IELTS (General) 5.5. RMIT Vietnam will require you to complete a BULATS test to assess your level of English before an offer of employment can be made.
