Lead Backend Software Engineer (PHP)

Prophet is a sports betting marketplace that allows its users to buy and sell previously placed sports bets that have changed in value. Users can buy from others or sell their own existing bets. Prophet combines this unique marketplace offering this with educational tools and smart calculators, all in one centralized location. You can think of us as the eBay of sports betting.

As a Senior PHP Software Engineer you will be working with our product managers and engineering teams to create the latest generation of our backend technology stack. Powering our marketplace for thousands of games a month.

This is a hands-on role. You will be required to demonstrate excellent Software engineering skills, actively propose solutions to problems, and work well with teams to define the best way to roll out and manage growing services with a focus on our full technology stack. You should be a quick learner and comfortable jumping into large technology stacks.

Our business and technology stack is financially focused and involves transacting and handling money on a daily basis. Previous experience working in a challenger bank, fintech company or a company that has dealt with financial ledgers, payments and escrow is highly valued.

This position is full-time, onsite in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

What you'll be doing
- Building large-scale applications with an OCD-level of attention to detail;
- Leveraging the latest technologies to get our applications and services closer to end-users and increasing our footprint; and
- Contributing to concept development and technical strategy.

Your Required Experience:
- Excellent back-end skills in dynamic languages;
- 4+ years PHP (or similar dynamic language) experience;
- 2+ years experience as a key member in a development team;
- Proficient with relational databases (MySQL); experience with Redis or Memcache is also valued highly
- Solid knowledge and application of OOP
- Experience with MVC frameworks (Laravel experience is highly valued)
- Familiarity with some form of Test Driven Development;
- Good English communication skills (i.e. listening, speaking, and writing).
- Experience in fintech, gaming, gambling or marketplaces is highly valued.
