Lab Technician (Based in Hai Phong)

Key Job Responsibilities:

Field In-Service Sample Analysis
• Perform on time analysis of Chevron products in service (field samples) and requested competitor products, to be used for providing accurate recommendations regarding lubricant performance, change frequencies, investigation of performance problems and explanations for failures in the field which are not oil-related, thus avoiding claims against the Company.
• Analysis of in-service oil samples (used oil analysis) to ascertain condition of oils in use, cause of problems and advising corrective action.
• Liaison with Technology Center & Product Line staff so that accurate information is transmitted, i.e. Results, recommendations, on which important decisions are made on product performance
Product Formulation Development
• Handles queries on formulations, check and confirm findings. Maintains and updates new or revised manufacturing formulas/product specifications issued by CGL Product Line Group.
• Optimizes existing formulations based on results obtained on recent production and quality of raw materials.
• Records lab time spent on Formulation development including hand blends and dispatch test samples.

Product Quality and Assurance
• Perform routine QC by conducting Physical and Chemical Tests on all finished lubricants and raw materials to release/reject products.
• Issues blend adjustments or corrections as and when required.
• Update recipes in CS3000 upon requested.
• Prepares and Issues Certificates of Analysis for finished products.
• Commissioning new laboratory equipment and train staff accordingly.
• Troubleshoots equipment problems.
• Co-ordinates non-routine laboratory activities such as Stability testing of products etc.

Quality Control Process
• Monitors and ensures reliability of quality control process by calibrating instruments, chemicals and equipment.
• Conducts control sample checks for statistical analysis.
• Records and reports batch/ in-process sample release times and other time taken for other laboratory activities such as calibrations, control sample checks, standardization, sample testing etc.
• Monitors and supervises QC activities by analyzing statistical process control data on Control samples and takes any necessary corrective measures as required.
• Conducts weekly reporting of first time right batches, non-conformances, re-blend work-off rates.
• Initiates corrective action reports for all non-conformances.
• Monitors batch release times to ensure maximum laboratory productivity.

Compliance of Laboratory Tests/ Quality System Maintenance
• Ensure laboratory tests complied with external requirements such as CITC and SABS Standardization program.
• Ensures adherence to prescribed test procedures.
• Purchases laboratory chemicals and consumables as per prescribed methods.

Adherence to HES Policies and ISO Procedures
• Ensures compliance with Company’s HES principles with regard to safe working practices, hazardous chemical waste disposal.
• Maintains the Laboratory Health and Safety Program

- Has chemical or chemical engineering background.
- At least 3 year experience in testing or quality control. Lubricant testing experience is a plus.
- Self-motivated and adaptability to new environment
- Ability to work independently and in a team under high pressure. Willing to work in shift
- Fluency in English and Vietnamese
- Communication skills and interpersonal skills
