WORK CONTEXT / BACKGROUND:
WVV’s Area Programs (AP) focus within one administrative district of a province which usually populated by ethnic minority people with very high rates of poverty. APs are mainly funded by sponsorship funds, and are a phased approach to development, involving clear and consistent assessment, design, implementation, reporting, monitoring and evaluation and reflection phases. Each AP is tailored to the needs of a specific community in alignment with WVV’s strategic priorities. WVV works closely with district and commune local authorities and local partners to implement program activities. A uniqueness of WVV’s AP approach and structure is that team members are based at district level where the AP is located, which enables them to work closely with government partners and communities on a daily basis.
The current AP structure is based on sectoral approach with one staff in charge of one sectoral project. In FY11, WVV pilots new AP structure in 7 APs. Under each AP, there will be 6-8 staff, including 1 AP manager, 1 Sponsorship Facilitator, 1 Finance Officer/Bookkeeper, 1 AP Coordinator and 2-4 Development Facilitators (DFs) who are in charge of all projects and programme activities for around 2 assigned communes/wards in their AP (from assessment to planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and transition) . For each cluster (4-6 APs), there are 4 technical cluster staff: Health/Watsan/HIV/AIDS; Education/Child Participation, Agriculture/Economic Development, DME/Capacity Building. DFs will be coached by the AP manager programmatically and the cluster technical staff technically. One of the strengths of this structure is to allow better integration of the program toward Child Well being Outcomes.
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
- Translate child rights education and various announcements clearly
- Help both Korean and Vietnamese children to understand discussions clearly and support them to participate in discussion actively
JOB DETAIL
- Translate child rights education lecture (we will share the lecture materials beforehand)
- Translate Korea’s child right’s club introduction and Vietnam’s child club (we will share the lecture materials beforehand)
- Translate group discussions
- Translate the group activity document
- Translate other activities

WORK CONTEXT/BACKGROUND World Vision is a Christian relief and development organisation working to create lasting change in the lives of children, families and communities living in poverty. World Vision serves all people regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or gender. As a child-focused organization, WV’s work focuses on children, ensuring they are protected and their basic needs are met. WVV has a total income of more than USD20, 000,000 (FY15) with funding from 16 support countries in Europe, Asia, the Americas and Australia. Funding of WVV consists of sponsorship program funding (70%) and PNS/grants (30%). WVV employs about 370 staff, of which 99% are Vietnamese nationals. In FY17, World Vision Vietnam is implementing 38 Area Development Programmes (ADPs) which operate in 5 zones: North (Hung Yen, Hoa Binh, Hai Phong and Dien Bien), Yen Bai – Tuyen Quang, Thanh Hoa, Central & Highland (Quang Tri, Quang Nam – Danang) and South (Quang Ngai, Binh Thuan, Ho Chi Minh, DakNong). WVV’s ADPs focus within one administrative district of a province which usually populated by ethnic minority people with very high rates of poverty. Beside the ADPs, WVV is also implementing different Special and Grant Projects to meet the specific needs of vulnerable children in both ADP and non-ADP areas. Given the decline in Child Sponsorship income, it has been WVV’s strategic priority to diversify funding sources by accelerating growth in Grants and Private Non Sponsorship (PNS) funding. However, as Vietnam has become a lower middle income country, there are limited grant opportunities. Therefore, WVV needs to build the WV brand and preposition to potential donors such as Corporates and Individuals to improve their familiarity and trust in our work and to tap new funding opportunities.
