Knitwear Designer/ Technician

Role – Knitwear Designer (Footwear)
This is a customer facing technical knit expert role that will report directly to the Knitting Manager. It will
require a proven knowledge of both 2D & engineered knit to 3D (shaped) textiles and the ability to visualize
in three dimensions.
The challenge of the role will be to operate the system, make the required process setting adjustment to
different formats to be used whilst maintaining the external shape of the finished product. You will be
required to demonstrate designing 3D knitted structures using Stoll equipment & M1 Plus programming.

Areas of Responsibility:
• Working closely with the customers designers to help them develop knitting concepts
• Work with the in-house graphics team to develop knitting concepts into viable tec-packs
• Transform tec-packs into efficient knitting programs
• Oversee the maintenance of all knitting department equipment & housekeeping to the highest
standards
• Work with the innovations team to use new yarns with unique characters
• Develop Standard Operating Procedures for use across the knitting department
• Train machine operators in the correct and efficient use of the knitting department equipment
• Oversee the yarn library ensuring all stock is adequately labelled & neatly stored
• Communicating with and/or visiting external suppliers as required
• Any other duties relevant to the establishment of the SHOEfabrik inhouse knitting department

Specific Knowledge and Skills:

Must haves
• Expert or Advanced Stoll M1 Plus Skills
• Proven knowledge of both 2D & engineered knit to 3D (shaped) textiles
• Extensive knowledge of yarns both natural & synthetic
• Ability to work independently or with limited guidance and manage Customers and vendors with little direction
• Ability to accept and meet critical deadlines with excellent planning and organization skills
• Strong English verbal and written communication skills, including meeting facilitation and presentations
• Full stops Interacts cooperatively in a cross-cultural environment
• Computer skills, including Microsoft office applications

Nice to have:
• Knowledge of Footwear Knitwear Design
• Advanced Photoshop skills
• Advanced Stoll Photoshop Ex
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes

Experience:
• Stoll Qualified
• Textile/Knitwear Degree or other related degree
• Minimum of 3 years work experience in the knitting industry.
