This position focuses on critical components of the IT Infrastructure such as the network core, 130 WiFi access points, load balanced internet, data backups, monitoring systems, clustered firewall and cyber security. They keep current with emerging technologies and lead the solution design when the time comes to replace legacy infrastructure.

This is a Senior level position.

Support Responsibilities:

- Design backup and recovery architectures for SaaS systems and legacy systems that leverage the availability of modern backup options like AWS S3, Storage Gateway and Glacier.
- Lead the Cyber security function by facilitation of a continuous improvement program including monthly meetings to identify and mitigate cyber threats.
- Design and maintain application and operating system deployment platforms for Mac, Windows and iPads. Train support officers in good practices.
- Actively monitor SaaS and systems hosted on cloud infrastructure for security breaches and performance problems.
- Design highly available data center and internet configurations that include DDOS protection, load balancing, environmental monitoring, quality of service and security.
- Monitor and maintain on premise infrastructure through via syslog servers, PRTG, Grafana and the management of the Meraki cloud controller.
- Develop and implement infrastructure wide solutions and enhancements as new technology emerges and existing infrastructure reaches its end of life.
- Act as an escalation point for system wide problems, assist support and senior officers as called upon.
- Serve as a backup by cross training on other critical systems such as Google G Suite, Campus Card, backup systems.
- Participate in projects and documentation of the overall IT infrastructure and related systems.

Key Competencies:

Education & Certifications:


- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Industry certifications preferred such as: Amazon Solutions Architect, G Suite Administrator, CISCO Meraki, Palo Alto, Nutanix or evidence of completion of online courses or workshops.
- Advanced understanding of Firewalls, content filters and security best practices. Strong understanding of cyber security and concepts such as DNS, Encryption in transit, encryption at rest
- Advanced understanding of Active Directory, GPO, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, WSUS, SSL, QOS, SSO, 2FA
- Advanced understanding of cloud technologies such as Amazon Web Services, especially: EC2, S3, RDS, Route 53, WAF, Active Directory, VPC, ELB.
- Advanced understanding of online office productivity suites such as G Suite, Office 365, iWork, AWS Productivity.

Working in teams:

- Is familiar with service desk best practices such as: responding to support requests in a timely manner, reviewing and updating tickets multiple times per day.
- Contributes to team planning by adding tasks to the team backlog based on awareness of the team’s goals.
- Documents work such as research and new support procedures in order to share knowledge with the team. Mentors support officers in developing their skills for new and existing technologies.
- Maintains detailed infrastructure configuration and topology manuals and cross-trains other senior officers in supporting critical systems.
- Contributes weekly updates in writing to the support team on the status of the infrastructure, upcoming changes and notable technology trends.
- Participate as a member of the Cyber Security team by attending monthly meetings and contributing security enhancements to the operational plan.
