Impact on the Business/Function
• Provide strategic management and administrative support to the Country COO
• Deliver Change Execution – manage business or team change, either internally or externally driven, effectively and efficiently, with appropriate stakeholder communication, to ensure the Country COO delivers its required services.
• Communication – develop and manage communication plans both within and outside of the Function’s (and Country HOST) to ensure internal and external teams have a strong understanding of the Function’s purpose, strategy, deliverables and value.
• Financial Management – provide robust financial planning, management, tracking and reporting of the Function’s budget, engaging and working with Country Finance. In addition, this activity directly supports Country bank-wide cost reduction programmes.
• Governance & Documentation – ensure appropriate governance is developed, implemented and managed along with robust documentation and supporting management controls.
• Organisational Design – maintain and continually challenge the organisational design with the HR team to ensure it is as simple, effective and efficient as possible.
• People – support development of policy and process, in line with Global/Region/Country HR, ensuring our people are engaged, well managed and supported.
• Strategy Execution – develop and implement approaches for Country COO ensuring strong stakeholder understanding of the purpose and value of the HSBC strategy.
Customers / Stakeholders
• The role operates across all levels of management and drives implementation and execution of the Operational Management framework across geographical area. Stakeholder management is therefore multi-faceted across Businesses and Functions.
Leadership & Teamwork
• Leads by example, demonstrating core behaviors and values including teamwork, focus, drive and determination.
• Acts in a manner that transparently promotes the organizations values and delivers in an aligned manner.
• Cultivates an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand.
• Leading by example, ensures effective and open communication across the Operational Management Community.
• Contributes to the implementation of the Country COO people strategy
• Provide a professional representation of HOST COO Office across the Country.
• Influences greater team communication and collaboration
Operational Effectiveness & Control:
• Ensure appropriate governance is implemented along with robust documentation and supporting management controls.
• Provide documentation support for the governance meetings chaired by the Country COO.
• Provide strategic management and administrative support to the Country COO

The role holder will have knowledge, skills and experience in the following areas:
• Strong financial analytical background and proven ability in financial/analytical reasoning, including being able to contextualize financial data into business activities and conclusions.
• Demonstrated business knowledge, such as experience of managing a global P&L unit is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills, coupled with the ability to succeed within a matrix management structure and build and maintain regional team relationships.
• Ability to authentically engage with team, colleagues and business partners to deliver at pace.
• Strong knowledge of the external environment – regulatory, political, competitors etc.
• High level of personal drive and motivation to ensure delivery of a broad range of outputs simultaneously across HSBC.
• Ability and comfort to work across cultures.
• Proven experience of positive, challenging interactions with senior stakeholders that results in successful delivery.
• Proven ability to articulate complex issues concisely and in simple language to support problem analysis.
• Excellent relationship management, collaboration and influencing skills.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels across the Group.
• Practical experience of major business transformation activities is preferred but not essential.
• Strong understanding of HSBC structures, processes and objectives across the Group (if recruiting internally).
• Strong knowledge of HOST or similar functions in other organizations – functionally, operationally and financially.
Qualifications / Experience
• Educated to graduate degree level in business management related field or associated relevant business experience.
• Extensive experience in banking/ financial services, preferably in a global organization.
• Proven experience in financial budgeting, strategic planning, communication, and people management processes.
• Proven project management experience with an ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Previous background of working in a matrix organization structure; ability to persuade individuals at different levels.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required in English; other language abilities are advantageous.
