Global Market Product Control Officer (GCB7)

The purpose of this role is to drive the objectives and accountabilities of the GM Product Control Manager to ensure accurate and efficient Financial Reporting, Management Information, Compliance Monitoring, New Product Formulation and all other Treasury Finance Activities. To ensure timely and accurate preparation and submission of the Daily P&L reports and risk reports, monthly reports and other ad-hoc treasury finance requirements

The Product Control function is responsible for ensuring that traded products are completely & accurately recorded in HSBC’s books and records in accordance with applicable accounting standards. This overall responsibility is discharged via two key sets of activities

- Valuation Control – Controls designed to ensure appropriate valuation of the traded products portfolio, an understanding of key P&L drivers and to assist in detection of inappropriate trading activity
- Business Financial Control – Controls designed to validate, and where necessary, correct, the GBM traded products Balance Sheet and P&L, including appropriate application of accounting standards. This may include performance of certain reconciliations, which may be grouped in an “Accounting Control” sub-function

The job holder will also be responsible for supporting Middle Office (if required) on FX and IR buy-ins, PI monitoring, KRI production, providing inputs on Transfer Pricing and Behavioralization proposals and any other ad-hoc tasks assigned by GM Product Control Manager and Head of PC. The job holder needs to make sure that any material issues are escalated as per the Product Control escalation policy

- Interact with internal customers like GM, FIN, IT, Risk, GMMO, NST and external customers like State bank of Vietnam, HNX, External auditor, Market data service supplier (Reuters/Bloomberg) and other regulators for the advice on the specific Product Control scopes in-charge

Teamwork

- Interaction and working with other project teams to ensure that proposed solutions meet requirements
- Interaction with other finance functions to help explain Product Control matters and any policy changes impacting them

Operational Effectiveness & Control

- Ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of site control environments.
- Ensure all Risk and Control Monitoring, Thematic Quality Assurance and end to end reviews across GBM Finance processes are carried to a high standard within agreed timelines and resources
- Protecting and enhancing the Group’s reputation. Protecting the Bank from financial loss through fraud/malpractice/error

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

Technical Skills/Capabilities

- A detailed working knowledge of Global Markets products, including derivatives
- A robust understanding of valuation techniques as they apply to Treasury products and the ability to review and analyze the valuation of derivative products
- A robust understanding of the Reconciliation and Substantiation process as they apply to Treasury products
- Proficient in Refinitiv & Bloomberg data collecting & analyzing, Excel & financial modelling; basic VBA programming skills

Working Experience

- The ideal candidate would have an accounting qualification with 2+ years of experience in Valuation Control or Treasury Finance covering a range of asset classes
