Footwear Developer

General Summary:
 
- Manages the development of new footwear products from the receipt of Tech Package through key stages and into commercialization. Maintains connectivity through to finished product. 
- Manage / control factory Developers & their working process during Development range.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Provide process and project management for those models allocated to you. 
- Responsible for working with factory partners in converting initial design renderings into successful and profitably commercialized product. Reviews blue prints, other drawings and wooden models with coaching from Product Development Manager to ensure accuracy, functionality of mold details and design integrity.
- Review Blue prints/ 3D and wooden models by myself / engineer & directly work with fty / mold shop / accumulated experience day by day, able to work independently no coaching / some key attention from Development Manager
- Manage project information, ensure its accuracy and lead meetings with key partners, suppliers, mold venders and team members.
- Demonstrate an awareness of and engage in all phases of the Columbia product process which ensures that projects are proven and tested, completed on time, are manufactured, meet design intent, performance, costing and sustainability goals. 
- Constantly review and evaluate   the project status with your Portland counterpart and keep them continually in the loop regarding issues which may take the project outside of its predetermined track.
- Utilize your footwear knowledge and tools to achieve project objectives and communicate project status to your category leadership. Be the primary driver of the process to T1. Thereafter fully support the Product Engineer through commercialization and on to production.
- Manage prototyping and sampling across designated partner bases and advise on any performance shortcoming by these factory partners.
- Apply an advanced understanding of product and category objectives, quality and fit goals, best practices, testing and consumer requirements.
- Recommend and specify to the Portland creation team all material, component and construction options needed to meet key features and product performance goals.
- Maintain current files on all assigned models designated to you. Files should include sample request forms, last specification data, specifications and notice of changes and all other related information. 
- Working with PDX & Last vendor for new last code/ design and leading it to approval (2D/ 3D file review & communication)
- Looking for new local vendor and manage/ discuss with them about price/ LT/ MOQ, also keep control on RSL testing release of them at the first time working with CSC.
- Manage & control Lab test (single material/ FGT) to make sure product come to Production without potential problem.
- Leading Teardown meeting at each stage with Engineer and factory team to create products with cost saving cycle time saving and correct design concept. Support to Planning to create the best Production LT for each project. Also focus on VOC reduction.
- Leading and control Buy Ready following target and calendar.
- Work on models stage by stage at Development regarding material options, change vendor immediately to avoid potential Production delay & also Minimize material Lead time.

Supporting Job Functions and Scope:
 
- Keep abreast of new materials and innovations by networking with suppliers. 
- You will have a direct reporting accountability to your Asia based supervisor but will also have a dotted line responsibility to your Portland based supervisor. These supervisors’ will be responsible for conducting you periodic coaching and annual performance review.
- Establish a professional, industrious working relationship with factory partners. Build up this relationship in a manner which ensures the name and integrity of the Columbia brand is continually held in high esteem. Be a person of unquestionable integrity and honesty in all business relationships.

- Bachelor’s degree in a business, engineering, industrial design or a similar field.
- At least 6 years footwear experience in product creation with a global brand.
- Knowledge on functional footwear (e.g. waterproof), wide range of materials (e.g. textiles, synthetics, leather), and toolings
- Part drawings, customs, patents, and manufacturing processes.
- Project management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated leadership capability including the ability to motivate and mentor others within the working group
