AIG’s underwriters develop insurance solutions that address the exposures of companies and individuals, and embody AIG’s tradition of innovation, bringing to market groundbreaking insurance solutions for our changing world. AIG’s underwriters help to find insurance solutions for risks from a range of areas including life insurance, aviation, financial lines, casualty, environmental, catastrophic events, high net worth individuals, and boardroom liabilities.

As a Leader, you are respected for your deep technical expertise and/or ability to oversee programs and processes. You balance the needs of multiple stakeholders, making sound decisions using data, analysis, experience, and judgment, along with a risk mindset. Ultimately, you take ownership for key outcomes. This role will report to the General Director.
• Key functions: To manage all aspects of the Financial lines operations including:
Growth and profitability of portfolio within set budget objectives.
Strategic planning – Identifying growth opportunities, new business segments, new product opportunities to support growth objectives.
Increase AIG Financial lines market share through new business development, new distributions and improved relationships with key producers, clients and industry groups.
Train and develop your underwriting team to provide strong business outcomes and appropriate career path for high achievers.
Ad-hoc special projects or requirements that may arise from time to time.
• Key accountabilities
1. Customer relationship management - 35%
1.1- Ensure the maintenance/development of solid working relationships with all major clients, brokers, reinsurers and other stakeholders.
1.2- Liaise with administration staff, legal, claims, finance and accounting and any other services centre to ensure awareness of underwriting and business activities support standards required.
1.3- Research and develop new products and initiatives to meet changing customer needs in your market place. Tap into the AIG network to leverage ideas and knowledge from other regions and markets.
2. People management - 20%
2.1- Career and succession planning for team
2.2- Mentoring and coaching of reporting staff
2.3- Continue technical and professional development in conjunction with Learning & Development and Human Resources via Company supported programs and identified external bodies where relevant.
3. Financial - 25%
3.1- Profitable growth within budgeted objectives.
3.2- Expense management within targeted outcomes.
3.3- Strategic planning for the PC within a matrix environment.
3.4- Development and Implementation of business plans with appropriate guidance.
3.5- Portfolio analysis of book in including income, claims, producer and occupation mix.
4. Business processes - 15%
4.1- Management and oversight of operations to ensure adherence to corporate guidelines.
4.2- Carry out budget process in accordance with company guidelines.
4.3- Management of corporate compliance issues within the profit centre.
4.4- Maintenance of the integrity of all underwriting disciplines within the profit centre.
4.5- Referral of Renewal or New Business to Regional/NY Product Line Managers which falls outside of delegated underwriting authority.
4.6- Work within corporate guidelines and delegated underwriting authority as appropriate.
4.7- Provide information as required to Regional Office in order for monthly completion of reports for Head Office for delivery to New York.
4.8- Comprehensive knowledge and utilization of Smart and all supporting strategic systems utilized to support Segmentation Process.
5. Others -5%

•A minimum 5 years underwriting or relevant market experience and experience of having a Management position
•Experienced in Financial lines underwriting.
•Must be confident and have strong desire to lead and grow the business
•Good relationship/ interpersonal skills
•Strong Leadership skills
•Strong local market and industry knowledge
