Financial Control Manager (GCB6)

In this role, you will:

Impact on the Business / Function
Manage the Finance Risk Control Process.
Monitor the internal controls framework required by region. Provide relevant guidance and validate the controls within Finance.
Monitor system exceptions/ update data follow group requirements to ensure compliance and high quality outputs for Group and Regulatory Financial reporting.
Perform system maintenance/ update after validating vs operation and complying with International Accounting Standard/ Group Accounting policies/Local Accounting policies.
Perform 2nd level of review of exceptions reports/ journal booking… prepared by offshored team. Ensure reports are accurately prepared, quality and submitted on time.
Provide advice to operational team on operational accounting and system error.
Represent Finance to join bank level system projects on Finance system requirements, configuration and related accounting requirements.

Customers / Stakeholders
Work with stakeholders across the bank (GM FIN, GM Ops, and RBWM FIN, CMB FIN etc) to obtain information required for completion of control and reporting requirements.
Maintain a good working relationship with local and regional departments.
Timely and accurate submission of exceptions report to FIN sub-team with detailed commentaries and business reasons.
Timely and accurate completion of month end adjustments to ensure quality of output reports.

Leadership & Teamwork
Will provide leadership to ensure processes are in place to collect information that requires manual processes by liaising with necessary stakeholders including business partners.
Work closely with other finance and business finance functions including GFC.

Operational Effectiveness & Control
Establish appropriate operational controls based on risk assessments to ensure that the Group’s Operational Risk Management Framework is met and fully adhered to at regional and site Finance level
Liaise with Operational Risk Management and Finance teams to ensure that all key risks within their activities and operations are identified, mitigated, and monitored by an appropriate control environment that is commensurate with risk appetite.
Monitor the ongoing effectiveness of key controls to gain assurance that they are operating in line with risk appetite and any regulatory and HSBC requirements.
Assess adequacy of remediation of issues, including audit findings, internal control issues, and regulatory observations
Monitor and validate KIs and report weaknesses to senior finance management.
Provide regular update / training to all levels within local FIN team on the Group Operational Risk Framework.
Set accounting procedures considering the control aspects to ensure high level of accuracy.
Ensure data quality in HUB/FTP is maintained to ensure accuracy of reporting.

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

Qualifications (For the role – not the role holder. Minimum requirements of the role):
University (BA) or (BS)
Four years’ experience or more

Knowledge & Experience:
Financial accounting knowledge (IFRS and Vietnam Accounting Standard).
PC literate.
Accuracy & carefulness in working with data.
Good at English, especially in reading & writing.
Good communication & analytical skills.
