Fashion Designer - Hard Rock Cafe

Expectations:
Hard Rock Café Franchisee for Hong Kong, Macau and Ho Chi Minh City has identified an opportunity to improve financial performance of its retail business through in house apparel design. In house designer will be responsible to develop new and unique lines to keep the retail outlets competitive within the market and within the Hard Rock Café brand. New designs will for the majority consist of t-shirt designs, but can also extend to the design of accessories such as pins, scarves, bracelets and other items. The designers must be able to work with the Café management to develop a calendar for each outlet to identify the development plans throughout the year. The designer must be able to work with an approval process as well as work with production companies to adhere to quality parameters. In addition, the designer has to be able to understand the brand and must design based on customer needs and thus have a clear view on market trends.

Job Description
- Reports to Retail buyer
- Develop new and unique Hard Rock Café apparel for individual market needs
- Develop design and production process from idea to store
- Research fashion trends
- Develop designs with an emphasis on t-shirts, and also comfortable designing shirts, sportswear, pins, accessories and other items
- Negotiate prices with vendors and production companies and have a good understanding of fabric and accessory prices
- Able to work within global brand guidelines
- Proficient on technical processes in textile manufacturing
- Able to design theme based apparel, including but not exclusively related to music

- Fashion degree or Diploma and/or practical experience with a minimum of 1-3 years of experience in similar job.
- Can communicate in English
- Self motivated / able to work independently
- Good sense of fashion trends and able to design for mass production
- Able to plan the development process of new apparel over a year for multiple locations, from research to design to production and sales
- Good experience and understanding of fabrics, materials and apparel manufacturing processes
- Computer skills. Ability to work with CAD, Photoshop, AI and other fashion related software
- Good eye for detail and quality control to protect the brand
- Team work: able to direct and work with vendors, buyers and retail managers
- Good commercial sense
- Great communication skills and ability to convey design ideas to production team
