Entertainment Manager

Job Description/Summary:

The jobholder is responsible for the professional and proper planning, organization and execution of the entire entertainment program to the TUI BLUE® standards. The profitable management of the department, the implementation of the requirements as well as the management of employees in the department belongs to the area of responsibility.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

1. Departmental tasks
• Implementation of the TUI BLUE® philosophy and the prescribed concept
• Responsibility for the planning, organization, design, development and implementation of high-quality entertainment programs and actions according to the prescribed standards
• Coordination of program priorities with other departments
• Understanding guests’ needs, maintaining contact with the guests (including complaint handling)
• Punctual performance of administrative tasks: creating work schedules and rosters for the entertainment staff
• Executing program activities as part of the roster
• Regular dialogue with the BLUE® Guide for Media & In-house Marketing to ensure updated guest profiles relevant to Entertainment
• Due diligence in ensuring compliance with safety regulations
• Responsibility for the safety of guests participating in the actions and programs
• Responsibility for the careful and proper handling of the premises of the entertainment department and careful use and good maintenance of equipment and installations
• Timely ordering of supplies
• Coordination and implementation of start and end of season inventories
• Support / participating in the preparation of investment and personnel budgets in consultation with the General Manager and the Hospitality Concept Manager at head office
• Development of purchasing proposals for the following season
• Coordination and cooperation with other departments in horizontal actions
• Awareness and representation of the interests of the Entertainment department within the hotel and externally
• Ensuring the flow of information through regular dialogue with the General Manager and participation in department head meetings and conducting training and team meetings
• Regular interactions with the Hospitality Concept Manager at head office and reporting

2. Subordinate employees and leadership
• Team leadership, training and supporting subordinate employees in line with leadership principles
• Foster team spirit of and motivating subordinate employees
• Hiring, inducting, reviewing and making recommendations for the promotion of subordinate employees in consultation with the General Manager
• Deploy his / her employees on the basis of their abilities, identify and promote potential.
• Identify weaknesses and together with the employee develop measures to correct or mitigate
• Perform regular employee briefings, document them and ensure follow-up of the actions discussed that serve the development of the employee
• Participate in the recruitment and selection process for the department; ensure optimal training of new employees
• Perform and ensure effective communication within the department and with other departments, give clear instructions and targets to his / her employees
• Promote teamwork in the department and with other departments in the hotel
• Exemplify the philosophy of TUI BLUE® and serve as role model for good leadership
• Take responsibility for individual hotel specific tasks and perform them according to operational needs – this also includes MOD service
• Regular participation in relevant meetings and convening of departmental meetings

3. Personal development

• Stay updated on the latest entertainment trends
• Demonstrate initiative in own personal development by attending training programs (internal & external), visit trade fairs and study the relevant literature. If the certification has not yet been gained, the jobholder shall prepare for and gain the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce Train the Trainer Certification or equivalent

4. Final provisions

• Completed vocational training / Graduate in event or cultural management
• Relevant experience in a similar position (hotel, cruise ship, etc.)
• Strong management experience in the entertainment industry in a similar position and excellent host qualities
• Knowledge and skills in the field of entertainment and edutainment as well as in the design of family activities
• Very good conceptual, organizational and decision-making competence and ability to see things through
• Ability to work independently and strong sense of responsibility, highly developed communication skills
• Resilience and team skills
• Entrepreneurial spirit: high cost and quality awareness and strong service mentality
• Computer skills
• Foreign language skills (fluent English, basic German)
