JOB SUMMARY
OUCRU-VN has had an established English language programme since 2006. Over the last ten years the number of students and classes has expanded in fitting with both the growth of OUCRU and the addition of classes within our collaborating partner hospitals. Furthermore, our classes now cover a range of abilities from basic IELTS pass level to advanced English. A highly motivated English language teacher is required to deliver classes to students across varying ability levels. The post-holder will be based within the OUCRU-VN administration team and contribute to the improvement of English language understanding within OUCRU-VN and our collaborating partner hospitals. Travel between OUCRU and our collaborating partner hospitals (within HCMC) is required.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Plan, prepare and deliver classes focused on English language (listening, reading, writing and speaking)
• Monitor progress and provide regular feedback on students’ performance, and actively promote learner autonomy
• Liaise closely with our other English language teachers to discuss student abilities lesson content
• Other tasks as required

• Recognised English teaching certification (Cambridge CELTA or Trinity TESOL or equivalent)
• Education to first degree level (BA/BSc)
• Native English speaker or equivalent (IELTS 9)
• Post qualification teaching experience (at least one year)
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
• Motivated and creative individual who works well with little supervision
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
• First degree level education in a science/medical field
• Post qualification teaching experience (>two years)
• Experience of teaching English to Vietnamese students
• Experience of teaching English to adult students in a work setting

The Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) is a large-scale clinical and public health research unit based in Viet Nam. We are hosted by the Hospital of Tropical Diseases (HTD) in Ho Chi Minh City, and the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases (NHTD) in Hanoi. We also have sister units in Kathmandu, Nepal and Jakarta, Indonesia. As a Wellcome Trust Programme, we have received considerable support from the Wellcome Trust since our establishment in 1991. OUCRU aims to have a positive and significant impact on global health and, in particular, the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. This is being achieved via an integrated long-term research programme, contributions to training, the scientific literature, national and international meetings and membership of national and international committees.
