Engineering (R&D) Manager

The Engineering Manager is accountable for the design, development, onboarding and implementation of the products of the corporation. This position is accountable for the systems, documentation, quality and processes of the product team. Engineering Manager has direct responsibility for Product Engineering for both Mechanical and Controls, Application Engineering, R&D and Detailing.


YOUR TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Set challenging goals, leading & coaching the continuous development of team
2. Be a positive role model of the Palfinger values.
3. Define organizational framework and organizational set up for collaboration, communication and management of employee force
4. Report & monitoring of account performance and customer developments (internal or external)
5. Select and develop the best people with a mindset reflecting the Palfinger values and group guidelines (compliance rules)
6. Align activities with group objectives and create added value to the result of the group
7. Build, lead and develop a team of 6 engineers in developing product. Ability to set a vision and engage own team to reach that vision
8. Optimize R&D processes and utilization of available resources
9. Set targets (strategic/operative), assign tasks, assess and reward performance
10. Operative R&D controlling (forecasting, budgeting, reporting, IC charging, …)
11. Operative R&D project controlling (target costing, As-Is/To-Be analysis, payback,…)
12. Strategic R&D controlling (guidance in decision making, margin analysis, …)
13. Maintain a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations, and develop recommendations accordingly
14. Drive know-how exchange internally and across product divisions
15. Generate research funding
16. Advise management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations
17. Ensure developed products fulfill customer and legal requirements
18. Perform acceptance tests with customers and define the test criteria
19. Document test results and reinforce to product/system development

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

1. Education: Bachelor degree in mechanical or marine
2. Language: Fluently Vietnamese and advance English skills (Listen, Speak, Read, Write)
3. IT: ability to work with software: Axapta, CAD, PDM, SAP, MS Office (Word, Excel, PP etc.),...
4. Working experience: At least 5 years in related field (Product Expertise, economics ) and manage team above 6 people, familiar with working in a foreign manufacturing company.
