UNIS Hanoi is looking for 2 Homeroom Teaching Assistants to work from December 2018 to May 2019 for maternity cover. The 2 position holders will work within our Early Childhood Centre and report to the Elementary Lower School Deputy Principal. Their job is to assist Teachers in planning and implementing learning experiences that advance the intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development of students within a safe and healthy learning environment. Working hours is from 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. The position holders will be entitled to all public and school holidays.
Responsibilities:
1. Support: Provide support to the classroom teacher as requested
- Use appropriate strategies to support students’ learning
- Assist in instructing and assessing students
- Take initiatives in carrying out tasks or seeking information
- Ensure punctual attendance and time keeping
2. Class cover during teacher’s absence for short periods of time
3. Interaction with students
Maintain good teaching-learning rapport with students
Model and collaborate to implement good behaviours
Be responsive to student needs in line with the school philosophy
Act as good PYP model
4. Classroom management
Proactively manage student discipline in alignment with classroom agreement
Manage one to one and small groups under the supervision of the classroom teacher
5. Resources Management:
Prepare resources and materials as required based on the teacher’s weekly plan
Maintain inventory and stock control of all equipment and materials in collaboration with teacher
6. Organize classroom and displays together with teacher to create attractive, tidy, and interactive learning environment
7. Commitment to develop UNIS community:
Contribute to the enrichment of student life at UNIS, for example in sports, ASAs, student clubs and/or UNIS community services
Actively get involved in UNIS community services programmes
8. Contribution to the UNIS professional development
Seek feedback, reflect and act upon information received to develop professionally
Attend UNIS planned training activities
Learn from others and share knowledge with others
Be open to new learning and ways of interacting with young children
9. Other responsibilities as required by the Supervisor.

University degree in Education/Teaching or related disciplines
2+ years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in an international learning environment where English is the primary communication language
Cross-cultural exposure and understanding
Advanced English language skills

Knowledge of constructivism pedagogy
Strong computer skills
Organizational skill
Planning skill
Ability to create and maintain an effective learning environment
Ability to communicate effectively and positively with students, faculty, parents and other constituents of the school community
Ability to collaborate with team members within agreed protocols to focus on student learning and cross-curricular links
Ability to develop respectful relations among children and adults, and between adults within a climate of trust that promotes peaceful solutions to problems
2+ years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in an international learning environment where English is the primary communication language
