DB Schenker stands for the transportation and logistics activities of Deutsche Bahn. DB Schenker supports industry and trade in the global exchange of goods: in land transport, worldwide air and ocean freight, contract logistics and supply chain management. Roughly 66,000 employees at some 2,000 locations around the globe generated revenues totaling 15,451 billion euros in 2015. DB Schenker stands for performance, service and safety, regardless of the complexity or extent of logistics tasks and requirements. We are well equipped for any and all challenges thanks to our robust business model. Merging international markets and increasing flows of goods are challenges we face every day, and at the same time are what drives our business. Our customers, from regional family-owned companies to international corporations, must be able to act with increasing speed and flexibility – and on a global scale. Whether in terms of procurement, production or sales markets. We have set out to link these markets using environmentally friendly, intercontinental and seamless logistics chains. To do so, we have developed appropriate door-to-door solutions and complex service packages covering the entire value chain. We have a presence in some 130 countries around the world; we work in a network but operate locally. We offer integrated services from a single source: seamless transportation chains across all carriers – whether freight train, truck, ship or airplane – combined with complex additional logistical services. Thanks to our specialized industry expertise, we have been a partner of the automotive, consumer goods and high-tech industries for years, just to name a few examples. We offer our customers an increasing number of integrated industry solutions in these market segments. We are systematically adjusting to growing awareness of climate protection. In a time in which environmental consciousness is increasingly becoming a social responsibility, we help our customers improve their environmental footprint. DB Schenker’s climate protection activities are an integral component of DB’s Climate Protection Program 2020. This program aims to cut the DB Group’s specific CO2 emissions – emissions from transport services – by an additional 20 percent worldwide between 2006 and 2020. This target is based on achievements made in recent years: DB has already reduced its specific CO2 emissions from rail transport by over 40 percent since 1990. The Logistics sector has defined specific savings targets in all business units, for example in optimizing fleets and improving the energy efficiency of buildings and facilities. Air/Ocean Freight With its market position as the number 3 in air freight and number 3 in ocean freight, DB Schenker is one of the world’s leading providers. It offers the full range of services in global air and ocean freight. It operates at 800 locations around the world with approximately 20,000 employees. DB Schenker runs around 1,200 charter flights a year, connecting hubs on all continents several times a week according to a flight schedule and with guaranteed capacities. One of the pioneers in the air freight industry, DB Schenker is now the leader in innovative air freight concepts. Contract Logistics/SCM In contract logistics, DB Schenker, with nearly 20,000 employees at almost 570 locations with warehouse space of more than 7.7 million squaremeters in over 50 countries on all continents, offers customized logistics solutions for industry and trade. DB Schenker ranks fifth in the world in contract logistics. DB Schenker has developed a comprehensive portfolio of individual solutions for the Automotive, Consumer, Electronics, Industrial and Healthcare units. The range of services includes all stages in the value chain, from procurement, production and distribution logistics to after-sales service. Our core competence is the planning and execution of complex global supply chains.
