DB Schenker’s climate protection activities are an integral component of DB’s Climate Protection Program 2020. This program aims to cut the DB Group’s specific CO2 emissions – emissions from transport services – by an additional 20 percent worldwide between 2006 and 2020. This target is based on achievements made in recent years: DB has already reduced its specific CO2 emissions from rail transport by over 40 percent since 1990. The Logistics sector has defined specific savings targets in all business units, for example in optimizing fleets and improving the energy efficiency of buildings and facilities. Air/Ocean Freight With its market position as the number 3 in air freight and number 3 in ocean freight, DB Schenker is one of the world’s leading providers. It offers the full range of services in global air and ocean freight. It operates at 800 locations around the world with approximately 20,000 employees. DB Schenker runs around 1,200 charter flights a year, connecting hubs on all continents several times a week according to a flight schedule and with guaranteed capacities. One of the pioneers in the air freight industry, DB Schenker is now the leader in innovative air freight concepts. Contract Logistics/SCM In contract logistics, DB Schenker, with nearly 20,000 employees at almost 570 locations with warehouse space of more than 7.7 million squaremeters in over 50 countries on all continents, offers customized logistics solutions for industry and trade. DB Schenker ranks fifth in the world in contract logistics.
