Design Superintendent- HVAC

Quality / Standard
• Produces accurate information and documentation, which meets all procedural and auditable requirements.
• All Files & Paperwork are stored appropriately, easily traceable and kept up to date.

• Ensures vessel design complies with relevant regulatory authorities, specifications and customer requirements.

Schedule / Scope
• Remains well acquainted with the task schedule and regularly checks progress and upcoming deliverables.
• Completes tasks on or ahead of schedule (without compromising the output).
• Manages design inputs from third parties such as drawings, certification and manuals.
• Assessment of construction details and providing detail design solutions where necessary.
• Organize the issuing of drawings through the relevant parties.
• Organise or undertake the maintenance of relevant Design databases.

Communication
• Effectively and efficiently communicate through drawings, verbal and written means to all necessary parties.
• Proactively keeps all stake holders informed.
• Seeks feedback on performance and tasks.
• Communicates effectively at all levels. Forms professional relationships.
• Provides technical support as required.

• Consistently exhibits a proactive attitude toward innovation and improvement and actively seeks alternate methods of performing tasks.
• Consistently works towards reducing wastage in the Austal product and environment and provides cost effective solutions to issues.

• Diploma of Engineering (Mechanical) or equivalent.
• Knowledge of regulatory body Rules and Regulations requirements.
>7 years relevant experience & experience in Drafting within the Marine Industry.
• Proficient in the HVAC Design software (including heat-load & selection programs), Autocad and Microsoft office suite.
• Technical knowledge of Air-Con products.
• Good understanding of materials and their compatibility in a marine environment.
• Air-conditioning, heating, ventilating and ducting knowledge.
• Be skilled in 3D modelling.
• Interest in the Marine Industry.
• Design support for production.
• Maintain an efficient filing system and ensure that all work is stored in appropriate locations.
• Interfaces with other design disciplines leads.
• Initiates technical discussions with suppliers.
• Integrates changes during vessel design and build.
• Resolution of conflicting design requirements.
• Provides detail for an integrated design schedule.
• Drives project completion.
• Is available for technical discussion with the customer.
• Supervises team members including: Sets goals and monitors milestones.
• Develops team members.
• Manages performance in accordance with company standards.
