Data Analytics Specialist

Conduct research & development in the field of Data Analytics in a variety of business domains of Toshiba products & solutions. The selected candidate will have a great chance to work in/with world-wide Toshiba R&D Centers on a variety of practical problems in, such as, manufacturing process (smart factory), retail solutions, social infrastructure systems & solutions (e.g., water plan system, disaster prevention system, traffic system, etc), etc.

• Job specialization activity
o Collecting and processing data
o Discovering patterns and trends hidden in data sets (using Statistics/Machine Learning techinques)
o Visualizing & reporting results
o Defining new procedure for data collection and analysis

• Leader responsibility in data analytics team
o Accountable for technical solutions and leading the team to solve technical issues during a given project.
o Accountable for continuously discovering, evaluating and implementing new technologies to optimize development efficiency.
o Conduct recruitment interview, training & coaching junior members in the field of Data Analytics.
o Establishing estimation, propose research & development plan with customer.
o Monitoring and controlling project progress, complying company process.

• Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Mathematics.
• Master degree or higher at Data Mining, Machine Learning or other Data Science related fields is preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience as researcher and/or engineer in the area of Data Analytics, in which at least 1 year experience of technical supervision in Data Analytics is required.

Knowledge/Skills
• Solid knowledge at Probability and Statistics, Linear Algebra, Optimization, Numerical Computation
• Experience with different types of data, especially time series and categorial data.
• Experience with a variety of machine learning techinques for regression, clustering, pattern recognition, etc
• Skillful at one of programming/scripting languages: Python, R, C/C++, Java etc.
• Skillful at manipulating data using SQL/DBMS (Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, etc)
• Familiar with big data/cloud technologies/distributed computing: e.g, MongoDB, Hadoop, AWS, MapReduce, Hive, Spark, etc is an advantage
• Demonstrated systematic skills/experiences in research methodology.
• Excellent interpersonal & English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Japanese language (N3 or higher) is an advantage.
