Country HSEQ Manager

Business environment
Main characteristics: Spend half time in the office for preparing documents, reports, paper work, etc. Spend half time on sites to conduct necessary safety trainings for staff, provide supervision on critical activities, regularly carry out the site safety inspections to ensure full compliance of the staff.

Key dimensions:
- University knowledge is required for application of practical methods and techniques, work processes and procedures; proficiency in the use of materials, tools and equipment.
- Problem solving requires thinking of solutions based on experience in broadly similar situations and within well-defined procedures.
- The job is standardised; although there is freedom to determine the work routine, it is essential to this role that established processes are followed.
• Direct accountability for business performance is limited to the size and scope of the project and limited responsibilities.

Key Contacts: Internal: Regional Operations Director, Managing Director (Regional), ROH Senior management team, Sales team, Operations staff at all levels
External: Clients, prospective customers, suppliers, members of the local and international HSEQ business improvement communities

Purpose of position
To implement the company HSEQ policies, HSEQ Management Systems and Project/location specific Safety Management Plans as they apply to the Sarens project locations.

Key accountabilities
QHSE Management:
- Management of compliance with local, federal and international regulations and standards with regard to safety and environmental protection
- Ensure project locations comply with the relevant local Occupational and Safety Legislation and the respective client's HSEQ requirements.
- Maintain knowledge of applicable rules and regulations including government regulations, standards and policies.
- Accept assignments within the HSEQ department and perform specific duties as may be required.
- Prepare and maintain reports and documentation required for HSEQ assignments.
- Ensure the safety of workers and ensure their compliance with established safety policies, procedures and practices.
- Have knowledge about ISO Management System, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and be able to apply and maintain these standards.
- Be familiar and able to prepare Risk Assessment for high risk activities
- Coordinate with Operational Department to work out safe method statement and safe lifting plan
- Be able to develop the HSEQ Management Plan for projects
- Ensure that all KPIs required by Regional & Global HSEQ to be done and followed up properly
- Keep all necessary documented records in compliance with local legislative requirements and the requirements of the ISO Management Systems, OHSAS
- Ensure that all legal HSEQ requirements are fully complied
- Prepare required reports to the local Authorities and duplicate these in English to the Regional HSEQ Manager
- To ensure that all local personnel fully understand the requirements of the HSEQ Department by communicating those requirements to non-English speaking personnel
- To ensure that all information required by the HSEQ Department is communicated to the Regional HSEQ Manager in English, as required by Sarens Global policies, Including weekly reports, incident / accident / near miss reports, and any other formal communications required.
- To assist where necessary in the translation of English HSEQ documents into the local language and relevant local language documents into English.

Required qualifications
Education:
- University
Experience:
- Minimum 7 years’ experience working in safety supervision and management
- Safety management experience on projects is essential
Languages:
- Good written and spoken English
IT Skills:
- Strong user ability in MS Office Word and XLS applications
Legal requirements:
- Must hold the relevant appropriate local legal Certificate in Safety Management
- A Bachelor’s Degree from a reputable university which meets the work permit requirements of the country of residence (Expats only)
- No legal restrictions on international travel
