Costing Manager

SUMMARY:
The Costing Manager will provide functional direction across categories to support the continued pursuit of pricing excellence. The costing manager will ensure that pricing is fair and equitable across categories and factories while striving to provide a competitive advantage for the Under Armour brand. The Costing Manager will work towards a collaborative negotiation and development relationship within the Under Armour factory base. The costing manager will establish costing guidelines and maintain standardization of those guidelines across the factory base.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, include the following. Other duties may also be assigned.
Communication:
Effectively communicates with LO development, factory personnel, headquarter development, sourcing and production. Understands footwear manufacturing process and use this knowledge to provide competitive solutions to the costing process. Responsible for negotiating and confirming FOB pricing, production price adjustments, currency adjustments and working with material suppliers to support Under Armour pricing objectives.
Project Management:
Actively lead and manage costing guidelines and procedures for manufacturing and prototyping footwear. Work closely with HQ counterparts, pattern engineering, and development to support the tech package and product development process. Clearly and concisely document the costing process from origination through completion, following established guidelines and calendars.
Reviews tech packages to ensure that all packages are priced and correctly input into product data management system.
Maintains an open line of communication with production and development, aiding in the establishment of a focused and efficient sourcing strategy relevant to pricing and margin targets.
Tracks and understands production material issues for future planning. Drives the costing and margin initiatives that support category and brand targets.
Works with HQ development and planning to confirm salesman sample, production and promo price confirmation.
Understand product and brand vision. Consistently leads in implementing towards new innovations.
Responsible for continued development team growth and leadership.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
3 to 5 years Asia costing experience, footwear project management or a related field.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Experience in the sports footwear industry required. Overseas manufacturing experience preferred. Knowledge of footwear/accessory construction, material construction and properties, textile manufacturing, costing, pattern making, mold engineering and materials required. Good communication and computer (word, spreadsheet applications, etc.) skills.
Ability to work both independently and cooperatively with a diverse group of people.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence in English. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Understanding of material yields and metric measurements.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
