*** Summary
Leads and manages a team of compliance and risk management. Manages compliance matters pertaining to the organization. With team, provides a variety of general corporate and commercial legal & compliance services to in-house clients. May act as an advisor on legal issues involving the organization’s government and regulatory compliance. Oversees or otherwise coordinates legal matters handled by outside counsel. Demonstrates experience in general corporate matters. Selects, develops and evaluates employees to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
• Compliance: Take a driving role in promoting the high standards of integrity. Ensure compliance in line with global guidelines as well as local laws and regulations through adequate procedures and process controls. Foster a climate and culture of compliance through trainings, monitoring and pro-actively addressing compliance issues.
• Monitoring & Risk Management: Operate as an independent function to give assurance to senior management that business activities are executed within an adequate control framework and under consideration of the associated risks. Ensure adequate procedures to timely identify gaps within local policies, processes, procedures and systems and drive initiatives to close these gaps.
*** Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
<Functional requirement>
• Closely monitor trends and changes of relevant global, regional and local compliance requirements and standards.
• Drive initiatives to continuously improve compliance and ensure effective as well as efficient monitoring procedures and tools
• Ensure adherence to global standards (e.g. Code of Conduct, Marketing Compliance questionnaire, Global Directives and policies) including regular and detailed review of key business transactions (T&E, Sponsorships etc.)
• Provide transparency through adequate review mechanisms and reporting (ensuring Local
• compliance board is set up, managed and followed up)
• Define local training plan in line with global/regional plan and strategies.
• Ensure that all employees are trained appropriately and training records are maintained.
• Define local communication plan in line with global/regional plan and strategies and ensure
local organizations’ compliance awareness and knowledge.
• Ensure awareness of internal reviews through clarification with the respective persons and provide guidance on how to handle future cases.
• Ensure compliance reviews of activities and their supporting documents in accordance with
local SOP’s
• Ensure ad-hoc reviews (deep dives monitoring) where deemed necessary and work out action plans to address recurring issues.
• Manage ownership of internal policies, procedures and SOPs to ensure they enforce compliance and ensure adequate control.
• Ensure a yearly review of operational risks and define a monitoring and verification plan in line with regional/global mandates (e.g. trust but verify)
• Ensure adequate tracking of action plans resulting from internal and external audits to ensure timely implementation.
• Take ownership of global, regional or local projects related to legal and compliance
• Support the compliance officer in his/her other functions and responsibilities (e.g. BEIR reporting)
• Support the HR department to manage and deal with labor issues related to labor contracts,
• business ethics & conflict interest, integrity.
• Participating and driving negotiations and meetings with external counterparties.

• Proactively participate in global/regional network to exchange practice, needs, risks and
developments in legal and compliance
• Follow global and local employee performance related practices to lead the team including
coaching and development, resources needs etc.
