Community Fundraiser

*Job Purpose
To raise money for Blue Dragon’s work through engaging and maintaining excellent relationships with community groups, individuals and schools.

Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation is a grassroots charity serving children in crisis throughout Vietnam. We believe that every child deserves the best care we can offer. Blue Dragon kids are street kids, children with disabilities, and children who have been trafficked. We rescue kids from danger and slavery, reunite them with their families when we can, and provide all the services needed for recovery and growth.
The Communications and Fundraising team ensure the success of Blue Dragon’s work through fundraising, communications and marketing, and by maintaining our excellent reputation with donors, sponsors and the wider community.

*Key Objectives
● Uphold Blue Dragon’s mission and values
● Develop relationships and encourage donations from schools, donors, and local community groups and fundraisers
● Support the preparation and implementation of the annual appeal and campaigns
● Assist with public relations activities and events

Main responsibilities

The position responsibilities will be negotiated with School and Partnership Coordinator, the Manager and other members of the team, and are expected to include:

*Donor engagement
● Work with the Schools and Partnerships Coordinator to develop relationships and execute strategies to engage and raise funds from community groups, individuals and schools
● Create an excellent donor experience for donors and visitors
● Seek out new opportunities to increase funds for Blue Dragon’s work

*Campaigns and appeals
● Provide support for annual campaigns and appeals
● Assist with the production of promotional materials

*Team & Program Support
● Contribute to and implement the Communications and Fundraising strategies
● Liaise with program staff to organize visits and trips
● Assist team members in hosting visitors in Hanoi
● Assist with planning and implementation of other activities as required; for example, strategic planning, events, and information distribution
● Participate in team meetings by identifying needs and problems and initiating solutions and improvements

*Support
The Community Fundraiser supports the entire Communications and Fundraising team, and is closely supported by the Manager and the Schools and Partnerships Coordinator.

Key selection criteria

Essential
● Demonstrated commitment to Blue Dragon’s values
● Relevant qualifications and/or experience in Education, Public Relations, Marketing, and/or Communications
● Proficient English language skills, both written and oral; including the ability to give presentations and speeches
● Ability to work independently, set priorities, plan and complete work accurately and to deadline
● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, taking a donor-centric approach
● Experience in working in a multicultural environment with an understanding of cultural differences
● Able to take the initiative and develop new ideas
● Willingness to travel


Desirable
● Basic knowledge of design software: Illustrator, Photoshop
● Experience in working in a non-profit environment
