Communications Specialist

THE ROLE

The position is responsible for managing RMIT Vietnam's communications and media relations in Hanoi and surrounding cities and provinces. This includes planning and creating content in line with communications objectives and strategic plans for both internal and external audiences, responding to media enquiries, coordinating media presence at University events,media activities on campus, and providing communication consultation to internal stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Partnership – work closely with key stakeholders in Hanoi across all schools and operations, and Head of Hanoi Campus, to understand and support key communications needs.
Content creation– create content, and lead additional content production, to tell the news and stories of staff, student and alumni achievements to help position RMIT Vietnam positively.
Media collaboration – work closely with media in Hanoi and northern cities and provinces for positive media coverage. Ensure timely and appropriate responses to media enquiries. Manage Executive, staff and student media interviews as required.
Reporting – monitor RMIT Vietnam's presence on print, broadcast and online media to detect potential issues; media reports (major events; quarterly and annual media activity reports.)
PR – manage media plans and budget for PR campaigns for important occasions and major University events.
Digital assets – Responsible for high quality photos and videos of the University’s Hanoi-based activities to support stories, including managing suppliers.
Crisis Management - Represent UniComms on Critical Incident Management Team (CIMT) in Hanoi.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

A tertiary qualification in a professional communication field such as public relations, advertising, marketing or similar
5+ years experience working in a communications environment, particularly in regards to media relations and reputation management
Demonstrated experience in handling critical incidents effectively
Demonstrated stakeholder engagement skills, with senior stakeholders.
Demonstrated strong analytic skills
Good understanding of writing for media
Clear and effective verbal and written skills (English and Vietnamese) for the purpose of obtaining and conveying information to media, senior management, internal and external stakeholders, team members as well as producing reports
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise and work to tight deadlines
Attention to detail and accuracy when managing multiple projects with little supervision and time pressure

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS

If English is not your native language then you will be required to demonstrate a minimum English language proficiency standard at a BULATS UpperIntermediate level (BULATS score 65), equivalent to IELTS (General) 6.0. RMIT Vietnam will require you to complete a BULATS test to assess your level of English before an offer of employment can be made.
